Jennifer Lopez continues to promote her upcoming film The Kiss of the Spider Woman, which debuts on October 10.On October 7, Lopez appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she spoke to the host about an infamous wardrobe malfunction that took place during her summer concert tour.For the appearance, Lopez wore a sheer, lace, sequined Elie Saab gown with sky-high heels.

Jennifer Lopez’s press tour fashion as she promotes her upcoming film The Kiss of the Spider Woman has not disappointed—and her October 7 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon was no exception.

Lopez embraced the sheer dress trend again on Tuesday, wearing a sequined, lingerie-coded lace gown from Elie Saab’s Resort ‘26 collection with sky-high heels. The sparkly dress featured billowing sleeves, and according to Hello!, on the runway the look had a plunging neckline, but in the spirit of modesty, Lopez and her stylists Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi added the lace slip underneath.

The entertainer wore her hair in a low ponytail with a handful of face-framing tendrils, a subtle smokey eye and a pop of pink lip color, a pair of drop earrings, and a gold pendant around her neck.

Lopez spoke to Fallon about her concert tour this summer, which included a wardrobe malfunction that the performer played off masterfully. While performing in Warsaw, Poland, Lopez’s tasseled gold skirt suddenly fell to the floor mid-performance, leaving her momentarily stunned. Thankfully, as Lopez noted, she was wearing high-waisted gold bottoms underneath.

“I was like, ‘Thank God I have a big, you know, underwear on,’” she told Fallon.

She also mentioned that the outfit had been made earlier that same day after Lopez saw a “picture of an old supermodel from, like, the ‘90s, Yasmine Blythe, and she had this cute little outfit. I was like, ‘Let’s make this outfit.’”

Lopez added that the golden look was made “just because I felt like it,” and that it “made them crazy to make this outfit. And they never had a chance to do it,” seemingly meaning perfecting the sewing on the garment.

“Didn’t really know if I was going to wear it,” she added. “But I did at the last second, and I go out there and the thing just falls apart.” She clarified to Fallon that the moment “wasn’t part of the show.”

Naturally, as she was there to promote it, she talked about the experience of filming The Kiss of the Spider Woman—surprisingly her first musical, despite having a music career spanning over a quarter century.

“Believe it or not, I’ve never done [a musical] for whatever reason,” Lopez said. “It just didn’t come my way in that way, and, you know, it’s that thing where things happen when they’re supposed to happen, when you’re ready for them, when it’s the time, when it’s that thing. These things don’t come around all the time. Last time I did something like this, it was Selena. Where you read the script and go, ‘This is a big responsibility. This is something that it’s not going to happen in your career 25 times.’”

“Especially if you’re lucky enough, fortunately I have been, to have a long career, these things just happen every once in a while,” she continued. “And this is one of those moments.”

Of shooting her musical numbers in one take, Lopez told Fallon, “I enjoyed the challenge. I can’t say it was anything but a pleasure and a joy to do.”

One of the movie’s biggest fans? Lopez’s ex-husband Ben Affleck, who was a producer on the project and who made a surprise appearance on the red carpet alongside Lopez for the film’s premiere in New York City on October 6. He called her performance “amazing” and added, “She worked enormously hard. You get to see, like, all of her many gifts.”

After Affleck’s appearance—and the former couple’s seemingly cozy reunion—tongues, of course, wagged about a reconciliation 10 months after their divorce was finalized in January. “They are not getting back together but are in a great place and are able to communicate better and have a friendship,” a source told Us Weekly. “It took a lot of time for them to get to this place.”

The insider explicitly added that “There is nothing going on between them. He went because he’s a producer.”

On September 28, Lopez discussed making the film as her marriage was falling apart, telling CBS Sunday Morning, “It was hard not to think about stuff, but it was, like, the best and the worst of times. Every moment on set—I was so happy. And then, back home, it was not great.”

“But you get through it and, you know, honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me because it changed me,” she continued. “It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow—become more self-aware. I’m a different person now than I was last year.”
