NRL powerbrokers are reportedly plotting a grand final race, which could see two of the game’s top speedsters go head-to-head.

According to Code Sports, the NRL have been plotting grand final race with a player representative from every club for several years.

However, that’s unlikely to eventuate this year — with rugby league bosses hoping Josh Addo-Carr and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow will face off at Sydney Olympic Park.

It remains to be seen whether that pair of Eels and Dolphins flyers will face off, with their availability being the main challenge due to holidays and leave.

But should the race take place, the winner would reportedly earn a significant payday.

According to tracking data, Addo-Carr has clocked the highest top speed in the NRL this season, reaching 36.58km/h in the King’s Birthday game against the Bulldogs.

Tabuai-Fidow, meanwhile, has been recorded at 35.57 km/hr this season.
