Little Nightmares III Launches to Mixed Reviews

The highly anticipated Little Nightmares III launch has officially dropped, giving players the opportunity to jump back into the nightmare-filled world. Taking control of two child protagonists, Low and Alone, you’ll explore the Spiral, a location filled with nightmares from Nowhere.

The experience offers the opportunity to try it out as a single-player narrative alongside an A.I. companion or with a friend in two-player co-op online — with a free Friend’s Pass to get others on board. Though it’s been an exciting launch for fans of the Little Nightmares IP, the title has since come out to mixed reception from the public and critics alike.

Little Nightmares III is the first title spearheaded by a new developer — initially, the franchise was developed by Tarsier Studios, but the third entry was taken over by Supermassive Games, who has a history of working with Bandai Namco extensively with The Dark Pictures Anthology franchise. However, this change of developer has been received with negative reviews, as players have said that it misses the mark to feel like a Little Nightmares, only similar in graphics alone.

The £34.99 price tag has also been criticised, with some players saying that hidden locations have nothing in favour of launching the game with three DLC to sell the Deluxe Edition, which is priced at £49.99. Previously, Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares II have been bundled for £52.33, including not just the base game for both titles, but also five total DLC for the price of the Deluxe Edition of the third entry.

With the original priced at £15.99 and the sequel at £24.99, fans are struggling to accept a price hike of £34.99 on a title that has deviated from the original gameplay. Meanwhile, the third entry has seen criticism for being short, with some players claiming they were able to experience it all within three to four hours.

Little Nightmares III is out now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows PC via Steam.
