As part of a pilot program, the company is bringing <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/ai\/goodbye-project-starline-hello-google-beam-3d-video-conferencing-171056302.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:Google Beam;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google Beam<\/a>, its 3D video communication tech, to USO service centers in the US and other countries starting in 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">Google suggests that Beam can help military families who are separated by many miles feel like they are in the same room. While family members can keep in touch with deployed loved ones through group chats and video calls, chatting via Beam could help them feel closer together, if the tech works as well as promised.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">We got our first look at Beam \u2014 then known as Project Starline \u2014 <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/google-project-starline-191228699.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:in 2021;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in 2021<\/a>. The <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/googles-project-starline-booths-gave-me-a-holographic-meeting-experience-205804960.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:holographic teleconferencing system;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">holographic teleconferencing system<\/a> uses 3D imaging, spatial audio and adaptive lighting to make video chats more immersive.
