Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset is gaining a lot of traction thanks to its attractive pricing and an impressive mixed-reality experience. While the company detailed key features of the headset, it missed out on spotlighting one clever design element. Now, a hidden USB-C port built into the right strap has come to light, opening the door to connect a wide range of accessories.

A hidden USB-C port makes the Galaxy XR more appealing than rivals

Built on the new Android XR platform, the Galaxy XR is an AI-powered headset that delivers an immersive mixed-reality experience. The device unlocks new possibilities with multimodal AI, redefining how people connect with the world in day-to-day life. It costs $1,799, which is nearly half the price of the Apple Vision Pro ($3,499). If your budget allows, you can also consider these optional accessories to get the most out of your Galaxy XR.

Thanks to UploadVR, we now know that the Galaxy XR features a hidden USB-C port built into the right strap. Hidden beneath a flush cap, this useful port opens up a range of new possibilities. You can connect a host of accessories, such as Ethernet adapters and external webcams. Since the headset uses a separate battery pack, this port remains free for accessories.

What makes this feature appealing is that rival headsets don’t offer the same level of flexibility. For example, Meta’s Quest features only a single USB-C port that handles both charging and data transfer. Apple’s Vision Pro does support USB connections, but only through a $300 developer add-on. Thankfully, the Galaxy XR avoids these limitations.

Meanwhile, Samsung is offering a bunch of freebies with every Galaxy XR purchase. These include one year of Google AI Pro, two months of YouTube Premium, one year of Google Play Pass, and more. Furthermore, we are giving away $75 worth of gift cards when you purchase through our affiliate link.
