The matriarch, 71, spoke with Sherri Shepherd<\/a> on the Sherri<\/a> show on Monday, Oct. 27, and was asked about how her granddaughter Blue Ivy, 13, handled some of the criticism she received during her first appearance on stage with mom Beyonc\u00e9 during her Renaissance tour. Knowles, who clarified that Blue Ivy was dancing for 70,000 people per night, said that her granddaughter learned to be resilient.<\/p>\n “Because you have to be taught that. Kids don\u2019t learn it from just accident. You have to say to them, \u2018It\u2019s more important to be a good person.\u2019 And that you got to work for what you get,” said Knwoles. “Nobody\u2019s going to just hand it to you because you are somebody\u2019s daughter or because they like you. Shepherd asked Knowles whose idea it was to get Rumi on stage.<\/p>\n “Who do you think? Rumi\u2019s!” joked Knowles. “Listen, Rumi has been asking for the last three or four years, \u2018I\u2019m ready Mama, I\u2019m ready!\u2019 And her mom was like, ‘Well, this is a song where you can come out and be yourself on.'”<\/p>\n The proud grandmother went on to say that after seeing some comments, her older granddaughter offered a little advice to her sister.<\/p>\n “And listen, she would come out, and the first night, she was so excited. People were making all these crazy comments. You could pick them out,” she continued. “Ty would come and she\u2019d be like, \u2018No, I don\u2019t like that. I don\u2019t want that.\u2019”<\/p>\n “And I said, \u2018What are you going to do tonight?\u2019 Cause I was encouraging her to do a little twirl or wink or whatever. And she said, \u2018Be myself.\u2019 So she was! It was really good for her confidence.”<\/p>\n This past June, Knowles uploaded a video on Instagram of Blue Ivy\u00a0finishing her makeup look<\/a>. Set to Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cII Hands II Heaven,\u201d the teenager was just out of frame as only her hand could be seen applying a bold red lipstick color to her grandmother\u2019s lips.<\/p>\n “Today I wanted to attend the\u00a0@bluemarineparis<\/a>\u00a0runway show to see my grandson\u00a0@iamjulezjsmith<\/a>\u00a0walk in the show! !” she wrote in her caption. “I did not have a Makeup Artist so I asked my talented granddaughter Blue Ivy to do my makeup.
