BBC Scotland has axed its long-running radio news programme Good Morning Scotland.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster announced it is launching a new weekday morning news programme called Radio Scotland Breakfast, set to air from Friday, November 24.<\/p>\n

The show will be presented by Martin Geissler and Laura Maciver, with current GMS presenters Gary Robertson and Laura Maxwell taking up other presenting roles with the broadcaster.<\/p>\n

The new breakfast show will run from 6am to 9am Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n

Howard Simpson, head of News and Current Affairs at BBC Scotland, said: \u201cThe launch of Breakfast marks a new chapter in the history of BBC Radio Scotland\u2019s morning news service for audiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cBBC Scotland News is more important than ever now in the disinformation age and the programme will have the journalistic rigour and depth our listeners have come to expect, with Martin and Laura bringing their distinctive energy, insight, and warmth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will be there to help audiences make sense of the main issues facing Scotland and ask the questions that need answered.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m confident that\u2019s a combination that will make Breakfast a must-listen for people who want the latest news, sport, weather and entertainment from a Scottish perspective.<\/p>\n
