Meanwhile, Qantas begins its Auckland-Adelaide service on Friday.<\/p>\n
The Australian airline said those flights would take about four hours and 40 minutes.<\/p>\n
Also a seasonal service, it will operate four times a week. <\/p>\n
Qantas has said the route should add more than 30,000 seats.<\/p>\n
It will use a Boeing 737-800, a large narrowbody aircraft.<\/p>\n
One-way tickets to Adelaide were selling today for $387 to $407 in late November and for $407 to $428 in the first week of December.<\/p>\n
And for those booking further in advance, tickets for late January were going for $387 one way, in economy.<\/p>\n
The Auckland service is also aimed at better connecting South Australians with New York.<\/p>\n
Qantas has said the Auckland service should allow people to fly from Adelaide and easily board the QF3 service in Auckland to New York.<\/p>\n
Last month, Jetstar launched its biggest-ever expansion of New Zealand and transtasman routes.<\/p>\n
Jetstar\u2019s push included more frequent Auckland-Brisbane and Auckland-Sydney flights, and 26,000 more seats on Christchurch-Melbourne services.<\/p>\n
