Late-night hosts recapped Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s lavish visit to South Korea<\/a>, where he received a ceremonial golden crown<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seth Meyers<\/p>\n

Trump continued his tour of Asia on Wednesday, where he\u2019s been \u201cgetting the royal treatment he so desperately craves\u201d, according to Seth Meyers<\/a>. \u201cHe wishes he could get the same treatment back here at home. He made it clear, for example, that he\u2019s super-jealous of China\u2019s authoritarian government.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to South Korean leaders, Trump assured them that the country\u2019s partnership with the US guaranteed that \u201cyou\u2019ll have everything done very, very quickly \u2026 as fast as any other country, other than China\u201d, because China \u201chas a good system\u201d where Xi Jinping can \u201capprove things immediately\u201d whereas he had to \u201cwait two weeks\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry, you have to wait to two weeks?\u201d the Late Night host mocked. \u201cI thought you were going to say two years. For the rest of us, two weeks is very fast. Have you ever tried to make a dentist appointment? I chipped a tooth once, and they asked me if I was available to come in December 2027, and I just said \u2018fuck it\u2019 and let the tooth fall out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump also said that he stuffed the so-called big, beautiful bill to the gills so that he would never have to work with Congress again. \u201cThat\u2019s how democracy works. You\u2019re supposed to get the approval of Congress,\u201d said Meyers. \u201cFor example, you can\u2019t just bomb boats wherever the hell you want \u2013 that\u2019s illegal and unconstitutional. And that\u2019s not just me saying that. That\u2019s coming from Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on Fox News, Rand Paul, the Republican senator from Kentucky, called Trump\u2019s bombing of alleged drug traffickers off the coast of South America \u201cextrajudicial killings\u201d that were \u201cakin to what China does, what Iran does with drug dealers\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, when you say this is how China does it, that just makes Trump love it even more,\u201d Meyers said, laughing. \u201cHe\u2019s like: \u2018I don\u2019t want to blow up a boat in two weeks. I want to do it now!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert<\/p>\n

On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert<\/a> also checked in on Trump\u2019s Asia trip. \u201cHe\u2019s still flying around the world right now, collecting gifts wherever he goes,\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s like reverse Santa, because you want to stay as far away from his lap as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Trump\u2019s tour of Asia \u201ctook him to his second favorite Korea: south\u201d, where he was greeted by a South Korean military band playing YMCA. \u201cI know that\u2019s kinda his song, at this point, but it really undercuts the gravity of an official presidential occasion,\u201d Colbert remarked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to say the Koreans brown-nosed him, but they got so far up there I\u2019m pretty sure they snorted one of his tonsils. Because they gave Donald Trump the only thing he\u2019s missing at this point: a big golden crown.\u201d Their official lunch also featured mini beef patties with ketchup. \u201cThey\u2019re literally making him the Burger King!\u201d Colbert quipped.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s day ended with a dinner alongside fellow world leaders, including the Canadian prime minister, Mark Carney. Trump then posted on Truth Social: \u201cWe didn\u2019t come to Korea to see Canada!\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert retorted: \u201cWell, we also didn\u2019t come to South Korea to eat burger patties with ketchup, but that\u2019s just traveling with a toddler for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n

\u201cJust about every day I have a moment where I think, \u2018Man, things are terrible,\u2019\u201d said Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>. \u201cThe government has been shut down for like a month. The Republicans are trying to force Congress to choose between healthcare and food to open it up. We\u2019ve got a bunch of ghouls running the country, prices are high, people are suffering. And just when you start to think, \u2018Wow, it couldn\u2019t get any worse than this,\u2019 God throws a curveball like this one.\u201d<\/p>\n

That would be the frantic search for research monkeys that escaped the wreckage of a truck crash in Mississippi. Authorities warned that the six escaped monkeys could be aggressive toward humans, and could be potentially infected with hepatitis C, herpes or Covid. \u201cHepatitis, herpes and Covid?! Who are these monkeys hanging out with, Charlie Sheen?\u201d Kimmel joked.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, \u201cthere\u2019s an angry orangutan on the loose in South Korea\u201d, said Kimmel, as \u201cPresident Furious George was in Chungju today as part of his Asia-palooza tour. And they\u2019re keeping him happy by giving him presents everywhere he goes.\u201d Including, of course, the golden crown.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow nice,\u201d Kimmel deadpanned. \u201cI guess they were watching millions of us marching saying we didn\u2019t want a king and they thought, \u2018Hey, I have a great idea for a gift.\u2019<\/p>\n
