Demi Lovato \u2018It\u2019s Not That Deep,\u2019 DLG Recordings\/Island Records<\/p>\n
Demi Lovato\u2018s new album,\u00a0It\u2019s Not That Deep,\u00a0is upbeat, and that\u2019s because that\u2019s what her life is like these days.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this album, I wanted it to be more celebratory,\u201d she told ABC\u2019s Nightline. \u201cI wanted people to have fun listening to it because I\u2019m in a place in my life today where I\u2019m having fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
Demi said that marrying husband\u00a0Jordan Lutes in May helped inspire the album\u2019s dance-pop sound.<\/p>\n
\u201cFalling in love with him changed my sound,\u201d she said. \u201cI was like, \u2018I\u2019m gonna go make another rock album\u2019 and as I was making it I was [like], \u2018Wait, I\u2019m really happy.\u2019 \u2026 And I tried on a couple different genres of music that were inspiring me at the time, and what really landed for me was this pop music and dance vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n
While in the past her music has often reflected her personal pain, Demi tells Nightline, \u201cI\u2019m not writing from deeply emotional places right now, because I\u2019m not living in the past anymore. Because there are times in my life where I\u2019ve taken myself too seriously as an artist and put too much pressure on myself to have a certain amount of success. Sometimes it\u2019s just a matter of reminding yourself \u2026 it\u2019s really not that deep.\u201d<\/p>\n
Demi is also executive producing Camp Rock 3 and says the experience has been \u201creally awesome,\u201d but won\u2019t reveal if she actually appears in it.<\/p>\n
A tour in support of the new album launches in 2026 and will include \u201cmore dancing than I\u2019ve done in past tours.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI just want people to have fun. Don\u2019t take yourself too seriously,\u201d she says. \u201cOne day you\u2019re gonna wake up and you\u2019re going to be like, \u2018I could have had more fun.\u2019 \u2026 Life is about enjoying the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
