Performance art: it\u2019s not in the eye of the beholder, but in the accompanying artist statement. Julia Fox<\/a> has released an abstract for her Jackie Kennedy Halloween costume statement on \u201ctrauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance.\u201d Fox has been receiving backlash over the fit all day, including Twitter shade from Jackie\u2019s grandson Jack Schlossberg. She went to Julio Torres<\/a>\u2019 Cursed Amulet party as a post-assassination Jacqueline Kennedy (or Parker Posey in The House of Yes, it\u2019s a versatile costume). Schlossberg tweeted<\/a> \u201cJulia Fox glorifying political violence is disgusting, desperate and\u00a0dangerous.\u00a0I\u2019m sure her late grandmother would agree.\u201d But Fox feels people are misunderstanding her intentions.<\/p>\n The party\u2019s theme was \u201cMommy\u2019s Moods<\/a>,\u201d and according to Fox\u2019s social media, her mood was \u201cPoise and devastation.\u201d She explained the outfit wasn\u2019t a glorification of violence but commentary on how we process it. \u201cI\u2019m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement,\u201d she wrote. \u201cWhen her husband was assassinated, she refused to change out of her blood-stained clothes, saying, \u2018I want them to see what they\u2019ve done.\u2019 The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history. Beauty and horror. Poise and devastation.\u201d Fox saw the outfit as \u201cA woman weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality,\u201d and she wanted to honor that.
