All is not well in MAGAland, with one of the right-wing movement\u2019s most prominent media personalities launching a vicious attack against its newfound pinup girl<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cI object to this,\u201d Megyn Kelly told viewers of her eponymous podcast Thursday, responding to the social media uproar that followed Sydney Sweeney<\/a>\u2019s red carpet appearance the day before. \u201cI disapprove of the dress because it\u2019s completely see-through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sweeney sported the outfit\u2014a silver Christian Cowan corset dress, which left little to the imagination\u2014while attending Variety\u2019s \u201cPower of Women\u201d event Wednesday. Reports suggest searches for \u201cSydney Sweeney silver dress\u201d spiked more than 800 percent overnight, making her the top-trending celebrity in the U.S by Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope I can inspire other women to be confident and flaunt what they\u2019ve got, because you shouldn\u2019t have to apologize or hide in any room,\u201d Sweeney told the magazine.<\/p>\n

Kelly, for her part, was less than impressed. \u201cShe overshares and then takes away the thing that is the sexiest, which is every guy\u2019s hope to be the one who actually sees them for real,\u201d the media personality said.<\/p>\n

Just a few months ago, Kelly was celebrating Sweeney as MAGA\u2019s favorite sex icon, following her involvement in a scandalous advertising campaign<\/a> earlier this year, for which Kelly was only too quick<\/a> to sing the actress\u2019s praises. <\/p>\n

\u201cThese ads say \u2018hotness is back,\u2019 and that is important in 2025,\u201d Kelly wrote on her website<\/a> at the time. \u201cFinally, we have an actual woman with amazing breasts and an obviously kick-ass body who is in her jeans, and it is wonderful.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the dress was just a bridge too far for Kelly. <\/p>\n

Whatever her misgivings about the outfit, Kelly made it clear that overall, she considers herself \u201ca Sydney Sweeney fan,\u201d and speculated the actress may only have sported the outfit because she had been \u201cmisled\u201d into doing so. <\/p>\n

\u201cI guarantee you, somebody brought the dress to her and was like, \u2018Now we\u2019ll take it next level\u2019,\u201d Kelly suggested. \u201cAnd she trusted the wrong person, and before you knew it, we had all seen it.\u201d<\/p>\n

American Eagle\u2019s \u201cSydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans\u201d campaign drew fire earlier in September for what critics described as barefaced play on eugenics motifs, with the \u201cjeans\/genes\u201d pun taken as a clear evocation of historic ideals of racial superiority given the star\u2019s Aryan appearance. <\/p>\n

While left-wing commentators decried the ad for its perceived Nazi overtones<\/a>, supporters were quick to praise it as a send-up of \u201cwoke advertising.\u201d Fox News mentioned the campaign more than 180 times in only the four days after it first launched, with White House Director of Communications Steve Cheung describing the backlash as little more than \u201ccancel culture run amok.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vice President JD Vance meanwhile<\/a> said \u201cmy political advice to the Democrats is continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a Nazi,\u201d while firebrand Texas Senator Ted Cruz blasted<\/a> the \u201ccrazy left\u201d for coming \u201cout against beautiful women.\u201d<\/p>\n
