Donald Trump<\/a> took fresh aim at Late Night with Seth Meyers<\/a> Saturday afternoon, blasting the NBC host in a new Truth Social post<\/a> that accused Meyers of being \u201c100% Anti Trump, which is probably illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSeth Meyers<\/a> of NBC may be the least talented person to \u2018perform\u2019 live in the history of television,\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cIn fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise\u2026 Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this???\u2014NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s outburst came in response to Thursday\u2019s \u201cA Closer Look\u201d segment (see below), in which Meyers mocked Trump\u2019s overseas trip and riffed on his recent comments praising old-fashioned steam catapults over modern electric ones on U.S. aircraft carriers.<\/p>\n

Meyers went on to joke that Trump \u201cspends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote\u201d and imagined him ordering the military to \u201cuse the catapults to make our cities safe by shooting giant boulders to catch all the nasty roadrunners.\u201d The segment ended with a punchline linking Trump\u2019s exaggerated arm-flailing dance moves to \u201can electric catapult.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers\u2019 comments appeared to strike a nerve. Trump\u2019s post singled out the segment, calling Meyers \u201ca truly deranged lunatic\u201d for focusing on his remarks about naval engineering.<\/p>\n

NBC and Meyers have not yet addressed Trump\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Trump has gone after Meyers. Back in August, he took to social media to insult the host<\/a> after hearing what he called \u201ca sick rumor\u201d that NBC had extended Meyers\u2019 contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a sick rumor going around that Fake News NBC extended the contract of one of the least talented Late Night television hosts out there, Seth Meyers,\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social. \u201cHe has no Ratings, Talent, or Intelligence, and the Personality of an insecure child\u2026 So, why would Fake News NBC extend this dope\u2019s contract? I don\u2019t know, but I\u2019ll definitely be finding out!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

There was no indication NBC had actually extended Meyers\u2019 deal. With three years left on his current contract, it would have been unusual timing for a renewal. Lorne Michaels, who produces Late Night, said at the time he was optimistic\u2014but not certain\u2014that Meyers and his lead-in, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, would see their current contracts through.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think [Comcast CEO] Brian Roberts\u2014who I will be working for for the rest of my life, who I have very high admiration for\u2014has integrity,\u201d Michaels said. \u201cBut at the same time, everyone has [broadcast] licenses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers later responded<\/a> with a calm rejoinder that gently undercut Trump\u2019s insults without matching his tone.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has come to my attention that sometimes people who do not care for me get stuck watching my show,\u201d Meyers said. \u201cAnd to those people I could just say: You have my sympathy, and I hope you get a TV set that allows you to change the channel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s feud with Meyers stretches back to the 2011 White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner, where both Meyers and then-President Obama roasted the future president. Cameras caught Trump sitting stone-faced during the jokes\u2014a moment that many observers believe helped fuel his eventual run for the presidency.<\/p>\n
