KiwiRail, New Zealand\u2019s state-owned train operator, runs an almost two-week-long journey between Wellington and Queenstown through Great Journeys <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/world\/2110788\/panic-new-zealand-locals-abandon-country\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over 11 days, the \u2018Spectacular South\u2019 route takes passengers across three train lines through Marlborough, Kaikoura, Christchurch, Punakaiki, and Franz Josef. Half of the <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/travel\/articles\/2106533\/world-longest-train-russia-north-korea\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">train journey<\/a> is along New Zealand\u2019s east coast, and the second half is along the west. Those aboard can experience the Southern Alps and glaciers, see whales and dolphins, and explore the home of the sacred Pounamu and ancient forests. There is also the chance to go to a Marlborough vineyard, Te Papa Museum, the West Coast treetop walk, Punakaiki pancake rocks and blowholes walk, and the Cook Strait ferry crossing.<\/p>\n<p>The tour is recommended for those who \u201cenjoy free time to create their own adventure while having the structure of a guided expert\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Along the way, passengers receive 10 breakfasts, four dinners, one lunch, and one meal on the train.
