Both new cameras have the same dimensions/weight, can capture 4K footage at up to 60 frames per second, and feature a 20x built-in zoom. The main difference is that the CR-N400 has a 12G-SDI output port, whereas the CR-N350 has only a 3G-SDI port. So, let’s take a closer look at them!

Canon’s PTZ camera lineup, the CR-N series, already includes several models that cover a wide range of needs, from the entry-level CR-N100 to the high-end, fully featured CR-N700. However, there was a bit of a gap between the CR-N300, which costs $2,999, and the CR-N500, which retails for $5,999. Canon is making a bridge between those two models with the addition of no less than two PTZ cameras: the CR-N350 and the CR-N400.

The Canon CR-N400 and CR-N350 will be available in black or white. Both cameras feature a 21MP 1/2.3-in CMOS image sensor. The cameras feature a built-in 20x optical zoom lens, a 3.67–73.4 mm F/1.8-2.8, which is the full-frame equivalent of a 30-600mm lens. The cameras can be powered via the 12V DC input port or via a PoE++ power supply via the LAN connector (IEEE 802.3bt-compliant).

Both PTZ cameras can capture footage at up to 4K60P via the HDMI output in 4:2:2 10-bit, and via the IP output in 4:2:0 8-bit. However, the main difference between the two cameras is that the CR-N350 has only a 3G-SDI output port, limited to 1080P60, while the CR-N400 has a 12G-SDI output capable of 4K60P. Furthermore, the CR-N400 features a BNC timecode port.

Back of the CR-N400 on the left, back of the CR-N350 on the right.
