Al Roker popped by the Today show on Tuesday, Nov. 4, despite it being the weatherman’s day off<\/p>\n

Roker surprised co-hosts Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer by standing in the background of their interview with Jordan Litz<\/p>\n

Roker then came inside Studio 1A for a quick wave to tease his co-hosts<\/p>\n

Al Roker<\/a> can\u2019t stay away from the Today show \u2014 even on his day off!<\/p>\n

The 71-year-old weatherman surprised his co-hosts on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Rockefeller Center despite being absent from the NBC morning show.<\/p>\n

Roker popped up (literally) during the 3rd Hour of Today, which he normally co-hosts, while Sheinelle Jones<\/a>, Craig Melvin<\/a> and Dylan Dreyer<\/a> were interviewing Broadway star Jordan Litz<\/a>. Roker stood still behind Litz until his co-hosts noticed him in the window of Studio 1A.<\/p>\n

\u201cI gotta be honest with you, it\u2019s hard to keep track and focus, because this guy,\u201d Melvin, 46, said, pointing to Roker in the window.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh my God, Al Roker,\u201d Jones, 47, exclaimed. \u201cThanks for coming in to work today, buddy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re doing a show!\u201d Melvin shouted to Roker.<\/p>\n

Jones shared the reason for Roker\u2019s absence from the show, saying, \u201cIn his defense he got in really late last night, so we\u2019re letting him sleep in.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Roker didn\u2019t stop there, moving around the outside of the studio until he was seen standing behind Melvin and Jones.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is wrong with your friend?\u201d Jones teased of Roker to Melvin. \u201cHe keeps popping up everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAl Roker, he couldn\u2019t come to work today, but he could hang outside the studio,\u201d Melvin quipped.<\/p>\n

Later in the show, Roker came inside Studio 1A, walking onto the set with a wave. \u201cI\u2019d love to stay, but I\u2019ve gotta go. We\u2019ve got things to do,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Melvin joked that Roker was practicing \u201cearly retirement\u201d by doing just a minute of the morning show.<\/p>\n

In Sept. 2024, Roker assured PEOPLE<\/a> that he has no plans to retire at this time.<\/p>\n

Though he knows “that time will come,” he assured PEOPLE that it’s not quite yet. “I don’t feel like that’s my time yet, but who knows. Maybe a year or two. Maybe not, but I’m enjoying it. I love this,” Roker said at the time. “You don’t get off the train until the last stop.”<\/p>\n
