Ti West, who recently directed the\u00a0X, Pearl,\u00a0and\u00a0MaXXXine\u00a0trilogy, will be directing\u00a0Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol\u00a0for Paramount, with Johnny Depp set to play Ebenezer Scrooge \u2013 and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/11\/ian-mckellen-severance-tramell-tillman-johnny-depp-ebenezer-1236605074\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deadline<\/a> has broken the news that Ian McKellen of the X-Men and Lord of the Rings franchises and Tramell Tillman of Severance have joined Depp in the cast!<\/p>\n<p>Also in the cast is Andrea Riseborough (Mandy), who, like Depp, was already involved before the project was announced.<\/p>\n<p>West will be directing the film from a screenplay by Nathaniel Halpern. Deadline reminds us,\u00a0the classic Charles Dickens story has seen its fair share of retellings over the years with its tale of an elderly miser visited by the ghost of his former business partner and the spirits of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come.\u00a0For his first major studio movie, West will be telling a\u00a0thrilling ghost story set in Dickens\u2019 London, following one man\u2019s supernatural journey to face his past, present and future and fight for a second chance. Depp will be playing Ebenezer Scrooge. We don\u2019t know who McKellen or Riseborough will be playing, but Deadline hears that Tillman\u2019s role might be the Ghost of Christmas Present.<\/p>\n<p>Emma Watts is producing the film, with Stephen Deuters, Jason Forman, Adam Bohling, and David Reid serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s sort of surprising to see Paramount moving full steam ahead on Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, because it was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/robert-eggers-a-christmas-carol-willem-dafoe\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a>\u00a0four months ago that\u00a0Nosferatu\u00a0director Robert Eggers will be writing and directing a new adaptation of Charles Dickens\u2019\u00a0A Christmas Carol\u00a0for Warner Bros., with Willem Dafoe on board to play Ebenezer Scrooge. But the fact that Eggers is busy with his werewolf movie\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.joblo.com\/werwulf-filming\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Werwulf<\/a>, which just started filming, allowed Paramount to leap-frog ahead of that project.<\/p>\n<p>Are you interested in Ti West\u2019s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol?
