In live footage shared on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page, Itsaragrisil is seen instructing Bosch to stand and \u201cexplain herself\u201d in front of the cameras.<\/p>\n

Bosch looked visibly uncomfortable and responded that she didn\u2019t like being publicly called out in front of her peers.<\/p>\n

She insisted on \u201cusing my voice\u201d to stand up for herself, and Itsaragrisil responded by calling her \u201ca dummy\u201d.<\/p>\n

He then called for security to escort the Mexican beauty queen out of the room, but as she began to walk out, dozens of other contestants followed her, seemingly staging a walkout.<\/p>\n

Itsaragrisil can then be heard shouting, \u201cStop, stop,\u201d and, \u201cSit down,\u201d as the women made their way out of the room.<\/p>\n

He even threatened to disqualify them from the competition if they left but it didn\u2019t deter them.<\/p>\n

\u2018Beyond disrespectful,\u2019 says Miss Universe 2024<\/p>\n

Theilvig was one of many who left the event, telling an interviewer outside that, \u201cThis is about women\u2019s rights\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so sorry, we need to do something bigger,\u201d the reigning winner added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have respect for everyone, but this is not how things can be handled. To trash another girl \u2013 it\u2019s beyond disrespectful, and it\u2019s nothing I\u2019ve ever done. That\u2019s why I\u2019m taking my coat and I\u2019m going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miss Mexico says \u2018world needs to see\u2019 walkout<\/p>\n

Miss Mexico then spoke to members of the Thai media, telling them, \u201cI truly love this island, I respect all of you, you\u2019re amazing people, but what your director did is not respectful. He called me dumb \u2026 I don\u2019t try to mess with anyone, I just try to be kind and do my best, and he just (told me) to shut up\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the walkout, she said: \u201cI think the world needs to see this, because we are empowered women and no one can shut-out our voice \u2026 no one will do that to me\u201d.<\/p>\n

She then encouraged women around the world to stand up to men who \u201ctake away their dignity\u201d.<\/p>\n

Thai boss responds<\/p>\n

Speaking on a live video after the event, Itsaragrisil said that about 20 countries refused to film videos for sponsors, which he doesn\u2019t like because he pays for everything and expects something in return.<\/p>\n

He said he wants people to understand his perspective too, and it\u2019s been a tough few days with some delegates being \u201cvery difficult\u201d to work with.<\/p>\n

He said he wants a good show for everyone, hopes things get better, and he won\u2019t force delegates to film videos anymore.<\/p>\n

Miss Universe Organisation releases statement<\/p>\n

The Miss Universe Organisation has since released an official statement, saying: \u201cAll scheduled events and activities will continue as planned, reaffirming our shared goal of delivering an exceptional celebration that reflects the values of diversity, empowerment, and inclusion\u201d.<\/p>\n

The organisation stated that it is \u201cworking closely with the host community\u201d to ensure the event proceeds smoothly, which includes sending a high-level delegation to Thailand to \u201cstrengthen the collaboration with the host country\u201d.<\/p>\n

Clip goes viral online<\/p>\n

After the walkout clip was shared online, it received praise from thousands of people, including other delegates.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, fans and former contestants described the walkout as \u201can act of integrity and courage\u201d.<\/p>\n

Some even called it \u201cthe most empowering act in Miss Universe history\u201d.<\/p>\n

Others predicted that Miss Mexico would win this year off the back of this viral moment.<\/p>\n

Theilvig doubles down in support of Miss Mexico<\/p>\n

After the incident, Theilvig shared a photo of herself and Bosch on the Miss Universe stage with a message of support.<\/p>\n

\u201cStanding up for yourself is not always easy, but it is one of the most important acts of self-respect and strength you can show,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about acknowledging that you have a right to be heard, to express your opinions, and to pursue your dreams, regardless of any obstacles that may come your way.<\/p>\n

The Miss Universe Organisation, owned by Thailand-based JKN Global Group, has faced growing criticism over transparency and how contestants are treated.<\/p>\n

The walkout has reignited concerns, with critics alleging it reveals \u201ca toxic culture of public shaming\u201d within the organisation.<\/p>\n

The 74th Miss Universe Pageant will air live on Thursday, November 20 at 8pm.<\/p>\n
