{"id":118780,"date":"2025-11-05T06:04:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T06:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/118780\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T06:04:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T06:04:08","slug":"name-released-of-woman-killed-in-auckland-cbd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/118780\/","title":{"rendered":"Name released of woman killed in Auckland CBD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  [&amp;_p]:tit-sub-xl tit-sub-xl md:[&amp;_p]:d-tit-sub-xl md:d-tit-sub-xl mb-[1.3rem]\">Police have released the name of a woman who was found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1news.co.nz\/2025\/11\/02\/murder-charge-laid-after-woman-found-dead-in-auckland-apartment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dead in a central Auckland apartment<\/a> last week. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  lg mb-4\">She was 38-year-old Luisa Qelesenikau Mate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  lg mb-4\">Police were called to a property on Day St in the Auckland CBD around 7.35pm on Saturday, where officers discovered the woman dead shortly after arriving. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  lg mb-4\">A 38-year-old man, who police said was known to the victim, was charged with murder. He was remanded in custody and is set to appear in the High Court on November 18. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  lg mb-4\">Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin said, &#8220;our thoughts are with Luisa\u2019s family and her children, for the loss they have suffered, and our investigation team is continuing to support them through the process&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  lg mb-4\">A GoFundMe page was set up by Mate&#8217;s brother to take her &#8220;home to Fiji&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  lg mb-4\">&#8220;She was a light to everyone who knew her caring, strong, and full of love,&#8221; a statement on the page said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-paragraph articleLinkText  lg mb-4\">&#8220;Our family\u2019s greatest wish is to bring Luisa home to Fiji from New Zealand so she can rest close to our mother.
