Polestar will integrate Google’s new Live Lane guidance into the Polestar 4.

Polestar<\/a> is set to become the first automotive OEM to integrate Google Maps\u2019 new live lane guidance directly into a vehicle’s driver display. This feature, intended for cars equipped with Google built-in<\/a>, is designed to help drivers maintain their course while navigating complex highways and during periods of heavy rush-hour traffic.<\/p>\n

The company says the new navigation experience will be presented directly on the 10.2-inch driver display in the Polestar 4<\/a>. The guidance system detects the vehicle’s lane by employing Google\u2019s advanced AI, which analyses road elements such as lane markings and road signs captured by one of the forward-facing cameras on the Polestar 4.<\/p>\n

The system works in conjunction with Google Maps navigation capabilities, providing drivers with visual and audio reminders intended to help with timely lane changes. The visualisation highlights all possible lanes relevant to the chosen route, specifically indicating which lane the car is currently in.<\/p>\n

According to Sid Odedra, Head of UI\/UX at Polestar, the live lane guidance “supports Polestar\u2019s driver-centric user experience strategy”, aiming to reduce driver stress and potentially improve safety by lessening concerns over missed exits or necessary last-minute lane adjustments.<\/p>\n

Polestar says the highway-focused integration is part of its commitment to continuously upgrade its vehicles using innovative features delivered through over-the-air updates<\/a>. The rollout is expected in the coming months, with initial availability being limited to Polestar 4 vehicles in the US and Sweden.
