Marvel’s Fantastic Four invades Disney+: Meet the MCU’s first family in a retro-futuristic spectacle

New Delhi: Marvel’s superhero family, The Fantastic Four, has finally arrived on Disney+, sparking celebration among MCU fans worldwide. Released on November 5 after its blockbuster theatrical run, Fantastic Four: First Steps brings Marvel’s original team into the MCU mainstream and introduces viewers to a retro-futuristic 1960s adventure packed with action, humour, and cosmic stakes.

The movie is available for streaming for all Disney+ subscribers in India and globally, meaning fans no longer have to wait to see Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach suit up as Marvel’s iconic quartet.

A stellar cast as Marvel’s first family

Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie boasts a dream cast: Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing). Julia Garner joins as the cosmic Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson brings the planet-consuming Galactus to life.

Reviews have praised Vanessa Kirby’s performance, with early viewers calling her the “emotional bedrock” of the team: “Every member brings something distinct, but it’s Vanessa Kirby who elevates it,” said fans on social media, according to The Independent.

Plot and villains

Set in a visually stunning 1960s world, the Fantastic Four unite to face their biggest threat yet, Galactus, while the Silver Surfer, reimagined as Shalla-Bal, brings fresh emotional depth. The group’s resilience as a family is highlighted throughout, with Sue Storm’s motherly courage taking centre stage. Critics have described Galactus as “awe-inspiring, his scenes command total attention, and lauded Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer for bringing “stoic vulnerability” to the character.

The post-credit scene: MCU future teased

Marvel’s tradition continues with two major post-credit scenes. The most talked-about tease is the arrival of Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who is seen interacting with Franklin Richards in a quiet, ominous setup inside the Baxter Building. Director Matt Shakman confirmed the scene was shot by Avengers filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo, adding to the anticipation about Doom’s future MCU role.

“Doctor Doom is an amazing character, and he’s coming, as we all know. For us, it felt like, let’s start where you can focus on these four amazing characters… and save Doom for a little later,” Shakman explained.

Where and how to watch

Fantastic Four: First Steps is streaming exclusively on Disney+, accessible to subscribers globally, including in India. The film can be watched in high resolution with IMAX-enhanced scenes, making for a truly cinematic home experience.

Fans can now join Marvel’s first family, stream it, re-watch the stunning space battles, and get ready for what’s next in the MCU narrative, with spoilers promising Franklin’s powers and Doctor Doom’s arrival to shape the franchise’s future.
