Ukraine\u2019s international reserves rose by 6.4% in October to $49.5 billion \u2013 the highest level in the country\u2019s independent history \u2013 according to preliminary data from Ukraine\u2019s central bank, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).<\/p>\n

The record reserves highlight the impact of Western aid in sustaining Ukraine\u2019s macroeconomic stability amid Russia\u2019s prolonged invasion.<\/p>\n

The increase was driven by large inflows from international partners, which exceeded both the NBU\u2019s foreign currency sales and the government\u2019s external debt repayments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The current level of reserves is sufficient to maintain the stability of the foreign exchange market, the central bank wrote in its press release<\/a> on Oct. 7 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In October, the government received $6.4 billion in foreign currency inflows to its accounts with the NBU.\u00a0<\/p>\n

$4.7 billion from the EU under the G7\u2019s Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) initiative, also known as the ERA Loan $1.1 billion via World Bank accounts $507.7 million from the placement of domestic government debt securities $117 million from the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) <\/p>\n

Due to the revaluation of financial instruments \u2013 reflecting changes in market value and exchange rates \u2013 reserves increased by almost $127 million during the month.<\/p>\n

Ukraine\u2019s current reserve level is sufficient to cover just over five months of future imports, the NBU wrote.<\/p>\n

Between August and October, Ukraine received about $13 billion in external funding, with another $15 billion expected by the end of 2025, the NBU\u2019s October 2025<\/a> Inflation report states.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The international reserves of Ukraine\u2019s central bank mostly consist of US dollars ($33.8 billion), while 23.7% are held in euros (equivalent to $11.7 billion), according to NBU data<\/a> as of Oct. 1, 2025.<\/p>\n

Gold accounts for 7.1% of the reserves, or almost $3.5 billion.
