A Financial Times report this week claimed Huang said, &#8220;China is going to win the AI race.&#8221; He has now denied the statement, saying \u201cThat\u2019s not what I said\u201d, adding \u201cWhat I said was China has very good AI technology.\u201d In conversation with media reporters recently, Huang said \u201cThey (China) have many AI researchers, in fact 50% of the world\u2019s AI researchers are in China. And they develop very good AI technology. Otherwise \u2013 the world is very competitive, so we have to run fast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia clarifies Jensen Huang\u2019s statement<\/p>\n<p>As mentioned above, it all started with a FT report quoting Huang. Speaking on the sidelines of the Financial Times&#8217; Future of AI Summit, he allegedly told reports &#8220;China is going to win the AI race.&#8221;Hours later, the chip maker posted a clarification on Huang\u2019s statement. Nvidia posted an official statement, quoting CEO Jensen Huang reads, &#8220;As I have long said, China is Nanoseconds behind America in AI. It&#8217;s vital that America wins by racing ahead and winning developers worldwide.&#8221;Jensen Huang has often complained about lack of access to the Chinese market. Talking at an event last month, Huang said that the US can win the AI battle if the world, including China&#8217;s massive developer base, runs on Nvidia systems. However, the Chinese government has shut Nvidia out of its market. &#8220;We want America to win this AI race. No doubt about that,&#8221; Huang then said.&#8221;We want the world to be built on American tech stack. Absolutely the case. But we also need to be in China to win their developers.
