Last night, 1 News reported Police Commissioner Richard Chambers had sent a memo to staff informing them he had recommended the removal of McSkimming\u2019s long service and conduct medal and clasps.<\/p>\n

Chambers also offered to reissue awards signed by McSkimming during his time as the country\u2019s second top cop.<\/p>\n

The scandal has marked a difficult time for police as an audit uncovered several other staff had been circumventing police technology controls to access objectionable material.<\/p>\n

Mitchell expressed his sympathy for the force, who he said \u201cturn up to work every day\u201d and \u201cput everything into the force\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said it was necessary to sanction McSkimming\u2019s behaviour because it \u201creflects badly on police\u201d.<\/p>\n

The former Deputy Police Commissioner had already been suspended before his resignation, having been under investigation since last December on separate allegations.<\/p>\n

The court released further details of McSkimming\u2019s offending to the media following his plea.<\/p>\n

He reportedly told a co-worker<\/a> \u201che grew up in a house where pornography was normal\u201d.<\/p>\n
