A day after Dallas Mavericks fans were chanting “Fire Nico”, the struggling NBA franchise has parted ways with general manager Nico Harrison.

The man who traded five-time NBA All-Star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers nine months ago will be relieved of his duties after a three-win, eight-loss start

to the season.

That leaves them second-to-last in the Western Conference.

The decision comes a day after “Fire Nico” chants filled their home stadium during a defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks.

“This decision reflects our continued commitment to building a championship-calibre organisation, one that delivers for our players, our partners, and most importantly, our fans,” team governor Patrick Dumont said in a statement to ESPN.

NZ Herald 11 Nov, 2025 06:02 PM2 mins to read Subscribe to listenAccess to Herald Premium articles require…

[9
74,4995,89882,25056,89881,9517,22397,2079,13687,2294,20543,20916,89880,93,89878,3234,111,139,89879,37968,69,89883,213,666,780,1955,3608,102
post-130070","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sports","tag-after","tag-away","tag-chanting","tag-dallas","tag-doncic","tag-fans","tag-favourite","tag-fire","tag-franchise","tag-general","tag-gm","tag-harrison","tag-luka","tag-manager","tag-mavericks","tag-months","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nico","tag-nine","tag-nz","tag-parted","tag-sports","tag-struggling","tag-trading","tag-ways","tag-were","tag-with
["GET
