Toyota New Zealand<\/a> (TNZ) has revealed more specification detail and the full price list for the 9th-generation Hilux ute<\/a> arriving in 2026, as the model celebrates 50 years of Kiwi sales.<\/p>\n

But first to arrive in NZ will be a dozen different diesel variants. While Toyota is calling it the 9th-generation, it’s also fairly up front about the carryover powertrains and platform that underpin the model for its inital launch phase.<\/p>\n

The Hilux range features four models \u2013 SR, SR5, SR5 Limited and the new Adventure, with all models powered by the familiar 2.8-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission. Half of the 12 variants are available with a hybrid powertrain.<\/p>\n

The lineup ranges from an entry-level rear-drive, double-cab wellside ute to the range-topping Hilux Adventure, a 4WD double-cab wellside ute powered by the hybrid 2.8-litre turbo-diesel.<\/p>\n

In between are 10 variations, in single, extra and double-cab configurations. The former “widebody” SR5 Cruiser has been replaced by the SR5 Limited and Adventure variants. The GR Sport is not represented in the new range – at least not for now.<\/p>\n

The new Hilux SR<\/p>\n

The SR grade features 17-inch steel wheels, silver painted lower front bumper, side mirrors and hood moulding, locking rear tailgate (excluding cab chassis), side steps and four exterior colour choices.<\/p>\n

\nAll but one of the new Hilux models are 4WD.<\/p>\n

The SR extra and double-cab wellside have fabric upholstery, leather-accented shift knob and steering wheel, rear-seat air conditioning vent, smart entry and start, wireless smartphone charger and 8-speaker audio system.<\/p>\n

For 4WD automatic variants, the SR wellside variants add a locking rear differential, and for some models the Multi Terrain Select and Downhill Assist Control.<\/p>\n

An SR 4×4 double-cab automatic grade is also available with the 48-volt hybrid system.<\/p>\n

Toyota says its engineers have worked on refining Hilux noise, vibration and harshness countermeasures. Newly designed cabin and engine mounts minimise vibration transfer.<\/p>\n

The Hilux SR5 and SR5 Limited<\/p>\n

The next model is the SR5 and more lavish SR5 Limited version, which introduces a new comfort-oriented rear leaf suspension tune. SR5 customers can choose from a manual non-hybrid or automatic transmission hybrid powertrains.<\/p>\n

The SR5 adds 18-inch gloss black and bright machined-finished alloy wheels with larger front disc brakes and ventilated rear disc brakes, auto-levelling LED headlights, LED taillights and rear fog lamp, privacy glass and auto retracting and heated exterior mirrors.<\/p>\n

Inside, the SR5 features front seat heating, dual-zone air conditioning and a heated steering wheel. The driver also gets a 12.3-inch multi-information display and a Multi Terrain Monitor (excluding manual transmission and cab-chassis variants).<\/p>\n

\n4×4 controls have been reorganised and sit ahead of the gear selector.<\/p>\n

The SR5 Limited adds black leather accented seats, powered driver seat adjustability and a JBL nine-speaker premium audio system (excluding manual transmission).<\/p>\n

Both the SR and SR5 are available in Glacier White, Tensile Silver, Eclipse and, new to the range, Ash. The SR5 and SR5 Limited are also available in Emotional Red (excluding the Cab Chassis variant).<\/p>\n

The new Hilux Adventure<\/p>\n

Yet to be seen in official pictures, the top Hilux Adventure takes all the features of the SR5 Limited and upgrades with matte black alloy wheels, “mineral” leather interior and a unique front bumper.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s available in six exterior colours, including two exclusive Adventure colours \u2013 Frosted White and Sulphur.<\/p>\n
