\n\tAs Shogun<\/a> prepares to\u00a0begin production<\/a> in Vancouver at the beginning of the new year, FX is revealing new and returning castmembers.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Wednesday, it was announced that Asami Mizukawa (Aya), Masataka Kubota (Hy\u016bga), Sho Kaneta (Hidenobu), Takaaki Enoki (Lord Ito) and Jun Kunimura (G\u014dda) will be joining the Emmy-winning show\u2019s second season.<\/p>\n

\n\tReturning castmembers include Hiroyuki Sanada (Toranaga) and Cosmo Jarvis (Blackthorne), Fumi Nikaid\u00f4 (Ochiba), Shinnosuke Abe (Buntaro), Hiroto Kanai (Omi), Yoriko D\u00f4guchi (Kiri), Tommy Bastow (Alvito), Yuko Miyamoto (Gin), Eita Okuno (Saeki) and Yuka Kouri (Kiku).<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to FX, the second installment \u201cis set ten years after the events of the first season and\u00a0continues the historically-inspired saga of these two men from different worlds whose fates are inextricably entwined.\u201d Shogun was adapted from author James Clavell\u2019s novel.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the spring, co-creators and showrunners Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks wrapped a writers room for the forthcoming season. Other writers included Shannon Goss, Matt Lambert, Maegan Houang, Emily Yoshida, Caillin Puente and Sofie Somoroff.<\/p>\n

\n\tHiromi Kamata and Takeshi Fukunaga from the first season also return to direct season two episodes, as well as Marks, Anthony Byrne (FX\u2019s\u00a0Say Nothing) and Kate Herron (Loki).<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Shogun season one was released in 2024, it became a critically acclaimed success and was the most-watched show in FX\u2019s history. It then continued to dominate during its respective award season, earning 18 Emmy nominations<\/a>, including best drama series.
