The new animated comedy series from creators Mike Roth and Jase Ricci is a follow-up to the 2023 film \u201cMerry Little Batman\u201d and it explores the lives of its superhero characters \u2014 namely, Bruce Wayne (Luke Wilson), his son Damian Wayne (Yonas Kibreab) and dependable Wayne family butler Alfred Pennyworth (James Cromwell) \u2014 as they try to form an actual superhero family with the other, eccentric guests of Wayne Manor. <\/p>\n<p>A lively, fun and warm-hearted riff on the Batman mythos, the entire 10-episode first season of \u201cBat-Fam\u201d premiered Monday on Amazon\u2019s Prime Video. Based on real events, this Derek Cianfrance-directed crime comedy follows a career criminal (Channing Tatum) who goes on the run from the police and takes shelter in a hidden space inside a toy store. As he grows closer to one of the store\u2019s employees (Kirsten Dunst), the fragile facade of his new, assumed identity comes under threat of falling apart.<\/p>\n<p>The film marked an abrupt change of pace for Cianfrance, whose previous films (\u201cBlue Valentine,\u201d \u201cThe Place Beyond the Pines\u201d) occupied darker and more somber emotional territory. \u201cRoofman,\u201d nonetheless, received mostly positive reviews from critics and has emerged as one of 2025\u2019s most charming genre experiments. Fortunately, the dramedy series\u2019 second season is finally here. Created by Abe Sylvia, the series is set in 1969 and follows an outsider (Kristen Wiig) who moves to Palm Beach, Florida, and embarks on an ambitious plan to break into the town\u2019s extremely exclusive country club.<\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s core cast members, including Wiig, Laura Dern, Carol Burnett and Allison Janney, are all back in the new season. Its first episode premiered Wednesday on Apple TV, and its remaining nine entries are scheduled to premiere one at a time every week through Jan. 14. When the house next door is bought by a real estate mogul (Matthew Rhys) who was once the lead suspect in his wife\u2019s disappearance, though, Danes\u2019 author finds herself caught up in an obsessive, dangerous investigation into her new neighbor. <\/p>\n<p>The limited series, which also stars Brittany Snow, Natalie Morales and Jonathan Banks, dropped all of its eight episodes Thursday on Netflix. The new Netflix original is based on a Japanese manga of the same name and is set in late 19th-century Japan. It follows an impoverished warrior (Junichi Okada) who journeys with 292 other fighters to Kyoto in the hopes of capturing the \u00a5100 billion grand prize being offered there in order to pay for medical treatment for his sick wife and child.<\/p>\n<p>Once he arrives, however, he finds himself in a life-or-death game where he is forced to compete with the other samurai to be \u2014 you guessed it \u2014 the last one standing. The show\u2019s trailer is violent and action-packed, and its entire first season premiered Thursday on Netflix. It has the chance to be another international hit for the streamer, which is just yet another reason why you may want to check it out this weekend.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Nouvelle-Vague.jpg\" alt=\"\u201cNouvelle Vague\u201d (Netflix)\" class=\"wp-image-7886062\"  \/>\u201cNouvelle Vague\u201d (Netflix)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNouvelle Vague\u201d (Netflix)<\/p>\n<p>Months after it made its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in May, Richard Linklater\u2019s second feature film of the year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/nouvelle-vague-trailer-richard-linklater-french-new-wave\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u201cNouvelle Vague,\u201d<\/a> arrives Friday on Netflix. Shot in black-and-white, the film tells the behind-the-scenes story of the making of one of cinema\u2019s most influential and game-changing films, Jean-Luc Godard\u2019s French New Wave classic \u201cBreathless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Starring Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg, \u201cNouvelle Vague\u201d is as much an exploration of how \u201cBreathless\u201d was made as it is a tribute to its landmark, form-breaking style, as is evidenced by Linklater\u2019s Godard-influenced visual approach to the film. The Paramount+ original\u2019s new season finds its characters all grappling with the seismic changes of the \u201cLandman\u201d Season 1 finale, which saw oil tycoon Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) die and the control of his oil company pass to his wife (Demi Moore) and his head Landman, Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton).<\/p>\n<p>Despite that shake-up, \u201cLandman\u201d Season 2 promises to offer many of the same pleasures of its predecessor, as well as more of the grizzled look and tone that have come to define many of creator Taylor Sheridan\u2019s TV originals. The season\u2019s first episode premieres Sunday on Paramount+, and its remaining nine installments are set to debut one at a time every Sunday through Jan. 18.
