These nitrous oxide cartridges may be intended for use in kitchens, but they can also be abused and used as a recreational drug<\/a> known colloquially as \u201cnangs\u201d.<\/p>\n

The chemical compound, commonly known as laughing gas, induces short-term euphoric effects when inhaled and has spiked in usage since the pandemic.<\/p>\n

However, regular use can lead to a stream of negative side effects including dizziness, weakness in the legs and impaired memory.<\/p>\n

Use of the substance, most commonly used among 16-24-year-olds, has become such a widespread issue one neurologist warned it is \u201cmore dangerous than cocaine\u201d.<\/p>\n

For this reason, shoppers were alarmed to see the product available on the recently launched Kmart Marketplace<\/a>, a new platform that enables third parties to sell products directly to the budget retailer\u2019s shoppers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is so freakin\u2019 sad man,\u201d one commenter said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWow this is wild,\u201d another agreed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSurely not \u2026\u201d said a third.<\/p>\n

\u201cBudget nangs anyone? This is so bad, Kmart,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n

Many were specifically concerned about how accessible it makes the \u201cdangerous\u201d product for young people<\/a> \u2013 the primary demographic of users.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only thing this does is make it even more accessible for young ones to put their lives at risk,\u201d said one person.<\/p>\n

\u201cOkay so now people can get nangs from Kmart, gotcha. I know a 16-year-old who does them. Making it a whole lot easier,\u201d another agreed.<\/p>\n

A video showing a shopper searching for the item and finding it on the Kmart Marketplace was seen by news.com.au.<\/p>\n

But at the time of writing, the charger bulbs were no longer available and appeared to have been removed.<\/p>\n

Kmart declined to comment.<\/p>\n
