Florence Pugh\u00a0has no problem baring it all \u2014 at least when it comes to honesty.<\/p>\n
The \u201cThunderbolts\u201d star, 29, opened up on\u00a0\u201cThe Louis Theroux Podcast\u201d\u00a0about her mixed experiences on set, praising some coordinators while calling out others for making things \u201cweird\u201d and \u201cawkward.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m having fantastic experiences with intimacy coordinators,\u201d Pugh said. \u201cHowever, I\u2019ve also had a s\u2014 example.\u201d<\/p>\n
Without naming names or projects, the British actress described one particularly uncomfortable situation.<\/p>\n
\u201c[They] just made it so weird and so awkward and really wasn\u2019t helpful and kind of was just like wanting to be a part of the set in a way that wasn\u2019t helpful,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI think it\u2019s a job that\u2019s still figuring itself out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pugh \u2014 who\u2019s filmed everything from indie dramas to blockbuster love scenes opposite\u00a0Harry Styles\u00a0in \u201cDon\u2019t Worry Darling\u201d and Cillian Murphy in \u201cOppenheimer\u201d \u2014 said her experiences span both before and after the rise of intimacy coordinators.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m quite confident, I\u2019m quite happy in my skin, I\u2019ve always been able to make sure that I\u2019m heard,\u201d she said. \u201cThat being said, even though I know that I believe that, and even though I know that I felt that at the time, there are plenty of things that I remember where it was just completely inappropriate to have asked me to do that, to have directed me in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cLady Macbeth\u201d star admitted that only in recent years has she come to understand how much a good coordinator can enhance a scene \u2014 and protect actors.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been able to understand better meaning now through working with great ones in\u00a0sex scenes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Pugh explained that the goal is \u201cfinding the story of what it is \u2014 what kind of sex is it, how do you touch each other, how long have you been having sex for.\u201d<\/p>\n
The actress said that when intimacy is handled correctly, it feels like part of the storytelling \u2014 not just something to get through.<\/p>\n
\u201c[Everyone on set is] working away to chip away at the scene,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I think when I worked with a fantastic coordinator, I was like, \u2018Oh, this is what I\u2019ve been missing \u2014 understanding the dance of intimacy as opposed to just shooting a sex scene.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Pugh added, \u201cThere are good ones and bad ones, and it\u2019s through the good ones that I have learned how effective it can really be.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her comments come after fellow actor\u00a0Andrew Garfield\u00a0admitted that he and Pugh took their sex scene in the film \u201cWe Live In Time\u201d \u201cfurther\u201d than needed.<\/p>\n
Last year, Garfield explained that he and Pugh did not hear the directors yell \u201cCut\u201d while filming the intimate scene.<\/p>\n
