Seth Meyers spoke about rising tensions within the Republican party<\/a> with Donald Trump<\/a> losing support from his base over the Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> scandal.<\/p>\n

The Late Night host spoke about yesterday\u2019s dramatic meeting in the situation room to discuss Epstein, an ongoing crisis that has seen the president becoming \u201cwildly unpopular\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meyers said that Trump is \u201cby all the accounts the most unpopular president of all time\u201d and up until this point has only been \u201cable to hang on to power because he has a tight grip on the Republican party no matter what he did or how bad things got\u201d.<\/p>\n

But a new poll shows that only 33% of American adults approve of how the president is managing the government, a figure that\u2019s down from March with the fall driven by Republicans or independents.<\/p>\n

Meyers called this \u201ca meaningful and real development\u201d and \u201cit\u2019s not coming out of thin air\u201d with Trump \u201cpissing off Maga\u201d in multiple ways.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, the president defended the importance of H-1B visas, saying that workers need to come from outside the US as there\u2019s not enough people with \u201ccertain talents\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meyers joked that Trump is now saying \u201cyou can\u2019t expect me to make America again with only Americans\u201d.<\/p>\n

His comments were criticised as being overly negative about US workers. \u201cYou\u2019re the president \u2013 you\u2019re supposed to talk us up,\u201d Meyers said. \u201cYou\u2019re the mascot for America.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump took aim at people queueing for unemployment, which led Meyers to joke: \u201cWhy are you shitting on people in the unemployment line? If you didn\u2019t have a rich dad, that\u2019s where you would be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers said that Trump \u201cshould be a cheerleader for America\u201d before playing a montage of him saying that\u2019s exactly what he is in the past.<\/p>\n

His base is also annoyed with the Epstein scandal, a \u201cfar-reaching conspiracy that Maga spent years obsessing over\u201d and one that has \u201ccaused a panic in Trump world\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yesterday saw the president \u201cflustered\u201d in front of press with him refusing to take questions from reporters while claiming that the country was doing well and that it was a great day.<\/p>\n

Meyers said he has \u201cnever seen anyone so sad while saying the words \u2018it\u2019s a great day\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said Trump \u201clooks like a kid that asked for an Xbox for Christmas but got a jigsaw puzzle instead\u201d.<\/p>\n

He spoke about the \u201cemergency meetings over this Epstein bombshell\u201d that involved a string of high-ranking names as well as the controversial Colorado representative Lauren Boebert, who was one of the few Republicans to vote for the release of the Epstein files.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know you\u2019re in the shit when you\u2019ve got to count on Lauren Boebert to bail you out,\u201d he joked, referring to her as a \u201ccrazy\u201d person.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s taken 10 years but we\u2019re finally seeing a sizable portion of the Maga base grow frustrated with Trump both on policy and on the Epstein scandal.
