It held the title of the biggest single in the history of the United Kingdom until 1977. \u201cShe Loves You\u201d was also part of their record-setting domination of the Hot 100 in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The Beatles had already found chart success in their home country. \u201cPlease Please Me\u201d went to No. 2 and \u201cFrom Me to You\u201d brought them their first No. 1. However, \u201cShe Loves You\u201d truly put the band on the map. It was also the best-selling single in the United Kingdom by any artist until 1977, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/the-beatles\/she-loves-you\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Songfacts<\/a>. In 1977, John Lennon\u2019s band Wings broke that record with \u201cMull of Kintyre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The single also helped The Beatles set a record in the United States. On April 4, 1964, the Fab Four became the first and, to date, only band to hold the top five spots on the Hot 100. \u201cCan\u2019t Buy Me Love\u201d was at No. 1, \u201cTwist and Shout\u201d was at No. 2, \u201cShe Loves You\u201d was at No. 3, \u201cI Want to Hold Your Hand\u201d was at No. 4, and \u201cPlease Please Me\u201d was at No. 5.<\/p>\n<p>Paul McCartney on The Beatles\u2019 Biggest UK Hit<\/p>\n<p>Paul McCartney and John Lennon wrote \u201cShe Loves You.\u201d According to Songfacts, they were inspired to write the song after a concert at the Majestic Ballroom in Newcastle. \u201cThere was a Bobby Rydell song out at the time, \u2018Forget Him,\u2019 and, as often happens, you think of one song when you write another,\u201d McCartney said. \u201cWe were in a van up in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
