Speaker of Parliament<\/a>, Alban Bagbin<\/a>, has established that the 2026 budget must be a key tool for transforming Ghana\u2019s economy and reducing dependence on external support.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a Post-Budget Workshop in Accra on Saturday,November 15,, 20255, he described the budget as a roadmap for self-reliance and long-term growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cA common refrain echoes across Africa: \u2018Africa is not poor, it is poorly managed, and the budget is the clearest expression of that management.\u2019 At this pivotal moment, our budget must serve as a primary instrument for transforming Ghana\u2019s economic paradigm,\u201d Bagbin said.<\/p>\n

He noted that the policies in the budget should focus on building a resilient, domestically driven economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe policies contained in this budget must steer us away from dependency towards a resilient, domestically driven economy. Honorable members, data tells a clear and urgent story. Reform cannot wait,\u201d Bagbin said.<\/p>\n

The budget needs clear metrics on poverty and inequality \u2013 Prof Bokpin<\/a><\/p>\n

The 2026 budget outlines measures to strengthen local industries, increase revenue mobilization, create jobs, invest in infrastructure and social services, and promote innovation and private sector growth.<\/p>\n
