LOCAL musician Norman Willmore is well represented at this year\u2019s Scottish Jazz Awards \u2013 landing three nominations.<\/p>\n
The saxophone player is up for the best instrumentalist award in his own right.<\/p>\n
His collaboration with drummer Corrie Dick is also up for the best band award and the best album prize for their record Twa Double Doubles.<\/p>\n
Willmore said it was \u201cgreat to be nominated alongside so many talented people, many of whom are good friends\u201d, adding that the \u201cscene is thriving\u201d.<\/p>\n
The musician said he recently moved back to Shetland, but it is still regularly travelling away to play his own music, perform with the Peatbog Faeries and do \u201cbits and pieces with other folk\u201d.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on 2025, Willmore said he is winding up an \u201cexcellent year of gigs\u201d off the back of his last album \u2013 while he is recording a new one in February, which will feature some familiar Shetland names.<\/p>\n
