EXCLUSIVE: Janette<\/a> was totally “blindsided” when Bear<\/a> did not choose her in The Golden Bachelor<\/a> finale<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“\ufeffI was sure it was me and then when it wasn’t I thought, ‘How did I ever think that?'” she told 9Entertainment.<\/p>\n

“I felt like a bit of a fool and this has shown me to be very protective of my heart.”<\/p>\n

Janette hasn’t had any contact with Bear since they went their separate ways in South Africa.<\/p>\n

But she did send Sunny<\/a> a text message straight after.<\/p>\n

“\ufeffI messaged Sunny because I was genuinely happy for her. I realised in the end she was in love with him, and I wished her well, and I wished them a happy life together and whatever comes from it.”<\/p>\n

Janette said that she and Sunny remain “in touch loosely” \ufeffwith the pair occasionally messaging one another or seeing each other at events.<\/p>\n

While Janette was convinced Bear and her would end up together she realised that wasn’t the case when she met him face-to-face in South Africa.<\/p>\n

\ufeff”When I got up there and I looked into his eyes, I saw a bit of sadness.”<\/p>\n

When Bear explained that his heart wasn’t with Janette she said “100 thoughts went through [her] head”.<\/p>\n

\ufeff”I hadn’t kind of mindfully prepared anything for him not choosing me. I felt on that day he was going to choose me.”<\/p>\n

Even though Janette understood Bear had to follow his heart, the moment itself was overwhelming.<\/p>\n

\ufeff”I just wanted to run from that because I held back my tears, I put my wall up, and I thought, just be strong. And I just wanted to get off that mountain, rip my clothes off, rip my shoes off and and just rid myself of that day. You know? I wanted to go hide somewhere and have my little cry.”<\/p>\n

Watching the show back, Janette admitted when she was in the mansion she never realised there was such a strong connection between Bear and Sunny.<\/p>\n

The second last rose ceremony that saw Kim sent home “really shocked” Janette.<\/p>\n

“Seeing it play out, Bear’s connection with Sunny was almost from the word go and I think Sunny probably kept a lot of it to herself which is admirable as well.<\/p>\n

“I did the same.\ufeff I wanted other girls to have their opportunity with him and not be deterred by any connection I had with him.”<\/p>\n

Even though things didn’t pan out the way Janette had initially hoped, she returned home to Melbourne to a very full life of her work, her kids and caring for her mother.<\/p>\n

“I had a lot to stop me thinking about it too much and I probably didn’t get a lot of time to really process it. In the end I trusted that what is meant to be happened.”<\/p>\n

Janette has had a few months to find closure and now she’s ready to move on.<\/p>\n

“My family is always number one for me, outside of that I’m building a website to do online pilates classes and I am ready to date.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been on my own for a while but I would like to date somebody and hopefully I can keep my heart open and tell them how I feel, in time of course.”<\/p>\n

Even though Janette didn’t get her happy ending she has absolutely “no regrets”.<\/p>\n

“I gained more than I lost. I walked away with 19 friends and a beautiful experience and I still believe in fairytales, I’ve just got to wait for mine.”<\/p>\n

When asked if she would be keen to be the lead in a potential season of The Golden Bachelorette, Janette answered with a very enthusiastic ‘yes’.<\/p>\n
