Kelsey Grammer<\/a>\u2019s daughter is clearing up some misconceptions.<\/p>\n

Greer Grammer\u2014whom the Frasier star shares with ex Barrie Buckner\u2014got candid about life with her father, explaining that while many people think she\u2019s a nepobaby, it\u2019s actually one of the major inaccuracies about her career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest misconception about me\u2014and I never know how to talk about it except to just trauma dump\u2014is that I didn\u2019t know my dad till I was 16,\u201d Greer shared on a recent episode of Pretty Basic<\/a> podcast. \u201cMy dad left when I was 4, and then I didn\u2019t meet him again till I was 16.\u201d <\/p>\n

The 33-year-old did recall seeing him once at a Blockbuster when she was 11 years old, but felt she wasn\u2019t ready to talk to him then, saying, \u201cI ran away.\u201d<\/p>\n

But when Greer was 16, the two properly reconnected at a Christmas tree lot in Malibu where Greer was doing community service hours.<\/p>\n

“He came up to me and said, \u2018Are you Greer?\u2019 And I said, \u2018Yes, I am.\u2019 And then he went, \u2018I\u2019m\u2014.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018I know who you are. Duh,\u2019\u201d she recounted. \u201cAnd then he gave me his phone number and we went to lunch the next week and that\u2019s what kind of started our relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the Awkward alum remembered, all eyes were suddenly on her when Kelsey walked into the lot with his then-wife Camille Grammer<\/a> and their daughter Mason, now 23\u2014the two are also parents to son Jude, 20. <\/p>\n

One of her bosses asked Greer if she wanted to leave, but as she joked \u201cGod bless being a teenager,\u201d noting it made her decide to stay.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just remember having a moment of being like, \u2018No, I\u2019m OK to stay here. If anyone\u2019s gonna feel uncomfortable in this situation or feel like they need to leave, it\u2019s not gonna be me. I didn\u2019t do anything,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI was a kid. If anyone\u2019s gonna feel shame in this situation or guilt or weird, it\u2019s not gonna be me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greer recalled that her dad did seem nervous coming up to her, adding, \u201cI think I hugged him and he asked questions.\u201d<\/p>\n

And while it wasn\u2019t until then that father-daughter relationship began to flourish, the Last Summer actress does have vague memories of her childhood with her father.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember going to Frasier at one point and being a baby\u2014not a baby, but like, 3 probably,\u201d she shared, joking that she wasn\u2019t sure why the actors had to keep redoing their scenes. \u201cThen I think my mom took me out of the audience because I was loud.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also had a memory of going to a party at her dad\u2019s house, as well as one of him coming to see her preschool play, The Wizard of Oz, adding, \u201cHe also remembers \u2018cause we\u2019ve talked about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, my therapist was like, \u2018Do you remember when you knew that your dad wasn\u2019t a part of your life anymore? Did your mom ever sit you down?’\u201d Greer said. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t think so.’ She was like, \u2018You should ask her about that.’ I was like, \u2018No. I don\u2019t want to. I think my brain\u2019s probably blocking it out for a reason. But thank you for bringing it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

And while Greer and Kelsey are much closer now\u2014with Greer even guest starring on the recent reboot of Frasier\u2014Kelsey has admitted that he wasn\u2019t as present with his older children, including daughter Spencer, 41, whom he shares with Doreen Alderman.<\/p>\n

“I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,” the 70-year-old confessed to People<\/a> in May. “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelsey\u2014who also shares kids Faith, 12, Gabriel, 10, and James, 8 and newborn Christopher<\/a> with wife Kayte Walsh\u2014added, \u201cI\u2019m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.”<\/p>\n

Spencer Grammer<\/p>\n

Kelsey Grammer married dance instructor Doreen Alderman in 1982 and they welcomed daughter Spencer Grammer on Oct. 9, 1983.<\/p>\n

Though they didn’t divorce until 1990, Kelsey and Doreen separated not long after Spencer was born\u2014and the actor has since admitted to not being as present as he could have been the first time around.<\/p>\n

“I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,” Kelsey told People<\/a> in May 2025. “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now. I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.”<\/p>\n

\"<p>Spencer<\/p>\n

Spencer was married to firefighter James Hesketh from 2011 to 2017 and they share son Emmett, born in October 2011.<\/p>\n

An actress and singer known for Greek and providing the voice of Summer on Rick and Morty, Spencer fulfilled her dream of acting alongside Kelsey when they played father and daughter in 2022’s The 12 Days of Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n

“I haven’t done any other Christmas movies, so it was my first experience in the Christmas world, but it made it momentous for me to actually do a movie with my father,” Spencer told E! News<\/a> at the time. “I’ve always wanted to work with him.”<\/p>\n

In July 2024, she mourned the death of her former stepdad Dr. Bill Skinner, in her life since she was 5 even after he and her mother split up.<\/p>\n

“He has been there for me my whole life\u2026no matter what I needed,” Spencer wrote on Instagram<\/a>. “He was there. I always got to be his kid. He always gave me a hug, always listened, always believed in me, and always supported me.”<\/p>\n

Kandace Greer Grammer was born Feb. 15, 1992, to Kelsey and makeup artist Barrie Buckner.<\/p>\n

That relationship was short-lived, as the Cheers actor married Leigh-Anne Csuhany that September\u2014a union that was annulled at the groom’s behest in 1993.<\/p>\n

“For the most part, I had a regular childhood,” Greer told Glamour in 2015<\/a>. “Sometimes though I would wonder if people wanted to be my friend because they liked me or because of who my dad was.”<\/p>\n

While her father expressed his regret for past neglect, Greer\u2014who appeared on a 2024 episode of the Paramount+ Frasier reboot\u2014followed closely in his footsteps.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember going to tapings of Frasier when I was around 4,\u201d the Awkard actress told <\/a>Nylon<\/a> in 2014. \u201cI knew I was at my dad\u2019s work, but I didn\u2019t get that he was acting for TV. It wasn\u2019t until the second grade that it really hit me.\u201d <\/p>\n

Asked about the best advice her famous father had given her over the years about their shared profession, Greer told Stage Buddy<\/a> in 2021, “He gives me a lot of advice but the best was one time he told me to make sure that I act because I love it. He said ‘act for the right reasons.’ One time we had a lengthy conversation where he was honest with me and talked to me about how unfair and cruel Hollywood can be to women, he said, \u201cDon\u2019t let it get to you.’ I still get emotional when I think about it.”<\/p>\n

Mason Grammer<\/p>\n

Kelsey married Camille Donatacci in 1997 and they welcomed daughter Mason Grammer on Oct. 24, 2001, via surrogate.<\/p>\n

The end of their marriage in 2010 became engrossing fodder for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which counted Camille as an original cast member when it premiered that year.<\/p>\n

Mason, a model and graduate of Emerson College, said in 2018 that her relationship with Kelsey suffered in the wake of her parents’ messy split, but they had since repaired their bond.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the hardest time of my life,\u201d she recalled to Genlux, per Page Six<\/a>. \u201cI changed a lot after that. I had to grow up faster because I had a lot more responsibilities. My dad wasn\u2019t around, so I didn\u2019t see him much, and my mom had such a hard time. I became my younger brother\u2019s mom. Everyone was on edge. My parents still don\u2019t talk.”<\/p>\n

Camille, who’s been married to second husband David Meyer since 2018, did throw a compliment her ex’s way, telling Page Six that Mason was “a really good student” and she “must have gotten that from [her] dad because I don\u2019t have that kind of discipline at times!\u201d<\/p>\n

Jude Grammer<\/p>\n

Kelsey and Camille welcomed son Jude Grammer on Aug. 28, 2004, also via surrogate.<\/p>\n

The youngest of Kelsey’s non-minor children is more private than his older sisters, but Camille told Page Six<\/a> in 2018 that Jude “wants to be like his dad, an actor.”<\/p>\n

But, she added, “He doesn\u2019t like being in pictures right now. He hides. If I get a picture of him out of him, I\u2019m lucky!”<\/p>\n

Faith Grammer<\/p>\n

Two weeks after his divorce from Camille was finalized, Kelsey married flight attendant Kayte Walsh on Feb. 25, 2011.<\/p>\n

Their daughter Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer was born July 13, 2012, the couple explaining that, while they had originally announced they were expecting twins, “tragically we lost the little boy shortly thereafter.”<\/p>\n

Five years later, Kelsey opened Faith American Brewery in upstate New York.<\/p>\n

“My daughter’s name is Faith, but there’s also action in Faith. Faith is something you have to fight for,” he explained to Fox Business<\/a>. “We fought for this beautiful child in our lives, and she’s our first child. And the idea of America is still something I’m willing to fight for.”<\/p>\n

Gabriel Grammer<\/p>\n

Kelsey Gabriel Elias Grammer was born July 22, 2014, and the boy’s father let it be known that he and Kayte were just getting started with two kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t imagine not trying for more because it\u2019s been incredible,” Kelsey, who’s 25 years older than his third bride, told People<\/a> when Gabriel was 5 weeks old. \u201cAs soon as [he] came out, Kayte and I were going, \u2018Yeah, let\u2019s do another one.’\u201d<\/p>\n

(The actor born Allen Kelsey Grammer also said they’d be following his family’s tradition of calling their boys by their middle name.) <\/p>\n

“It\u2019s just this overwhelming gratification of being close to life like this. It just gives you such hope and joy,\u201d Kelsey gushed. \u201cI\u2019ve never felt more alive or more serenely happy than in the throes of life with these young people. I really enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n

James Grammer<\/p>\n

Kayte and Kelsey’s family grew again on Nov. 14, 2016, with the birth of son Auden James Grammer.<\/p>\n

And the Frasier star’s older kids were all for it.<\/p>\n

“My dad’s always wanted a huge family,” Greer told Entertainment Tonight<\/a> two months before James arrived. “Him and Kayte are such great parents together, and they have all these little ones, and they love them so much. They’re the cutest kids, Faith and Gabe. I’m excited for them to have another one, another crazy baby.”<\/p>\n

Mason said Kelsey “becomes a better dad after every child,\u201d telling <\/a>Closer<\/a> in 2018, \u201cWhen I grew up, he was very strict. Now he\u2019s more relaxed with my younger siblings. It\u2019s a blast!”<\/p>\n

Christopher Grammer<\/p>\n

Kelsey revealed on the Pod Meets World podcast in October 2025 that he and Kayte “just had our fourth one<\/a>, so it just became eight kids.”<\/p>\n

The 70-year-old noted, “It was like three days ago, Christopher that’s just joined the family.”<\/p>\n
