It\u2019s Wednesday, and you know what that means: it\u2019s time for another round of Connections!<\/p>\n

I mentioned on Monday that \u201cToxic\u201d is a song I would hear a lot in my early days of going to nightclubs. I actually started going to clubs when I was 16 (bear in mind that the legal drinking age in the U.K. is 18). I never had much interest in alcohol at the time. I just wanted to dance and have fun with my buds.<\/p>\n

On one of my first trips to a club \u2013 a cool place in my hometown that had live bands in one room and a rock DJ in the other \u2013 one of my friends was asked for ID. He was the only one of the group who was over 18, and he didn\u2019t have his ID with him. The rest of us went inside and he went home. I feel a little bad about ditching him. But that was a good night. After all, I wasn\u2019t yet drinking booze, so I can remember it quite clearly.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s NYT Connections hints and answers for Wednesday, November 19 are coming right up. Let\u2019s get rolling!<\/p>\n

NYT Connections \u2013 How To Play<\/p>\n

Connections is a free New York Times daily word game that you can play on the NYT\u2019s website or Games app. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the Connections archive, which includes every previous game.<\/p>\n

Connections presents you with a grid of 16 words (sometimes phrases, symbols or numbers). The aim is to arrange them into four groups of four. You don\u2019t know how they hit together or what the category for each group is: that\u2019s what you have to figure out.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s only one correct solution and there are often red herrings. You can guess incorrectly three times. A fourth wrong guess, and it\u2019s game over.<\/p>\n

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to deduce, followed by blue, green and purple. Often, the yellow and green groups have synonyms, the blues have cultural references and the purples have some kind of wordplay involved. But this is not a hard and fast rule. Be ready for curveballs \u2013 part of the fun of Connections is in how the NYT shakes things up to keep you on your toes.<\/p>\n

As with Wordle and similar games, it\u2019s easy to share results with your friends using an emoji-based grid. The game tracks your progress too.<\/p>\n

Many players take pride in having long win streaks or getting a reverse rainbow \u2013 correctly guessing the purple, blue, green and yellow groups in that order with no mistakes. That adds an extra little challenge.<\/p>\n

Nothing was really popping out at me when I first opened today\u2019s grid. But returning to it with fresh eyes a while later made a world of difference. The greens jumped out at me right away at that point. And, despite the red herring of LUNGE and SQUAT as exercises, I got the yellows (which are synonyms) in short order.<\/p>\n

SKINK seemed like a bit of an outlier. The only thing I associate that with is the Scottish dish cullen skink, so I figured there was some wordplay going on. Sure enough, it landed next to HEARTH and COLONY as I hit the shuffle button a few times, and I was able to figure out the purples. They refer to colon, heart, lung and skin.<\/p>\n

A good thing I got the purples, too, as I had absolutely no clue about the blues. I am not nearly familiar enough with Edgar Allan Poe to have figured these out, so that group was completely by default for me today. The stories referenced here are:<\/p>\n
