{"id":142934,"date":"2025-11-19T12:12:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T12:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/142934\/"},"modified":"2025-11-19T12:12:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T12:12:10","slug":"social-securitys-sending-out-payments-today-wednesday-nov-19-heres-whos-getting-a-check","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/142934\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Security\u2019s sending out payments today, Wednesday, Nov. 19: here\u2019s who\u2019s getting a check"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\">Social Security<\/a> Administration (SSA) is today due to disburse benefits to millions of people across the United States, in the next payment run on the agency\u2019s distribution schedule for November 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s getting a Social Security check today, Nov. 19?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Payments are to be sent out to certain recipients of retirement benefits, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or survivor checks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Of the 70 million people who receive retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits in the U.S., most are paid their money on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A recipient\u2019s designated Wednesday is determined by the date of birth of the worker whose Social Security taxes have accumulated the benefits entitlement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Today\u2019s payments cover birthdays between the 11th and 20th of each month. This follows last Wednesday\u2019s payment run (November 12), which applied to birthdays between the first and 10th of each month. <\/p>\n<p>At a glance &#8211; November 2025\u2019s Wednesday payment schedule:Born on 1st-10th of month: Weds., Nov. 12Born on 11th-20th of month: Weds., Nov. 19Born on 21st-31st of month: Weds., Nov. 26Who doesn\u2019t get their benefits on a Wednesday in November? Certain long-term Social Security beneficiaries<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">If you started claiming retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits before May 1997, your check typically goes out on the third day of each month, regardless of your date of birth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">These long-term beneficiaries were therefore scheduled to be paid their November money on Monday, November 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program &#8211; a separate SSA scheme for low-income individuals who are over 65 or have a disability &#8211; are normally paid on the first day of each month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, as November began on a Saturday, this month\u2019s SSI payments were issued to their nearly 7.5 million recipients a day early: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/social-security-is-sending-out-payments-today-friday-october-31-find-out-whos-receiving-a-check-f202510-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/social-security-is-sending-out-payments-today-friday-october-31-find-out-whos-receiving-a-check-f202510-n\/\">on Friday, October 31<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dual beneficiaries (SSI + regular Social Security)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Just over 2.5 million Americans claim both SSI and one of the SSA\u2019s retirement, SSDI or survivor benefits. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">These recipients were due to get the former on October 31, followed by the latter on November 3.<\/p>\n<p>At a glance: non-Wednesday beneficiaries in November:SSI recipients: Fri., Oct. 31Pre-May \u201997 Social Sec. beneficiaries: Mon., Nov. 3Dual recipients: SSI on Oct. 31; Social Sec. on Nov. 3<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">You can check out the agency\u2019s full benefits-distribution schedule for 2025 in this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2025.pdf\">online calendar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Social Security payments uninterrupted by shutdown<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The U.S.\u2019s record-breaking government shutdown <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/is-the-us-government-shutdown-over-what-to-know-about-the-house-vote-and-what-came-next-f202511-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/is-the-us-government-shutdown-over-what-to-know-about-the-house-vote-and-what-came-next-f202511-n\/\">finally ended<\/a> last Wednesday &#8211; but the 43-day-long stoppage did not prevent Social Security payments from being paid during October and the first 12 days of November. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On October 1, the day the shutdown began, the SSA had <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/what-the-federal-government-shutdown-means-to-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/what-the-federal-government-shutdown-means-to-you\/\">reassured<\/a> recipients that the distribution of benefits would continue \u201cwith no change in payment dates\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Payments remained uninterrupted because the SSA receives mandatory funding through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/OP_Home\/ssact\/ssact-toc.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/OP_Home\/ssact\/ssact-toc.htm\">Social Security Act<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>How much monthly money do recipients of Social Security retirement get?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Retired workers &#8211; who represent the majority of the U.S.\u2019s Social Security beneficiaries &#8211; get an average of $2,008.31 per month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/policy\/docs\/quickfacts\/stat_snapshot\/\">the SSA says<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-01897.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-01897.html\">maximum<\/a> monthly retirement check currently stands at $5,108.<\/p>\n<p>How much is paid to disability, survivor and SSI beneficiaries?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Disabled workers receive $1,582.95 per month on average, while recipients of survivor benefits get an average of $1,575.30 per month. Beneficiaries of the SSI scheme are paid a monthly average of $717.84.<\/p>\n<p>Social Security to increase benefits next year<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In late October, the SSA <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/social-security-announces-benefit-increase-for-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/blog.ssa.gov\/social-security-announces-benefit-increase-for-2026\/\">confirmed<\/a> that its beneficiaries will receive a 2.8% rise in their monthly payments, beginning inJanuary 2026. This comes as part of the agency\u2019s annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">For beneficiaries of Social Security retirement pay, this COLA increase will lead to an average monthly pay rise of $56, the SSA says.<\/p>\n<p>How does the SSA distribute benefits?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Almost all benefits checks are now issued electronically, as the SSA bids to goes fully paperless. As of September 30, the agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/news\/en\/advocates\/2025-09-10.html\">says<\/a> beneficiaries are \u201cin most cases\u201d no longer being given the option of receiving a paper check in the mail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The SSA provides its beneficiaries with two ways of receiving electronic payments:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Beneficiaries can get their money by direct deposit, by providing the agency with their bank details.
