\n\tDaniel Radcliffe<\/a> is passing the torch.<\/p>\n

\n\tRadcliffe recently stopped by Good Morning America to promote his upcoming Broadway show<\/a>, Every Brilliant Thing, where he shared that he reached out to child actor Dominic McLaughlin who is portraying Harry Potter<\/a> in HBO<\/a>\u2018s Harry Potter series, which is currently shooting and targeting a 2026 premiere<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI know a few people working on the production, so I wrote to Dominic and I sent him a letter, and he sent me a very sweet note back,\u201d Radcliffe revealed. \u201cI do not want to be like a specter in the lives of these children at all. I just wanted to write to him to say, \u2018I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did. I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better one.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Tony winner continued, \u201cI just see those pictures of him and the other kids and I just want to hug them. They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s crazy I was doing that at that age.\u2019 But it\u2019s also incredibly sweet and I hope they\u2019re having a great time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRadcliffe originated the role of Harry Potter in the Warner Bros. movie adaptations of J.K. Rowling\u2019s novels from 2001-11. He\u2019s gone on to star in many other films and TV shows since; however, he\u2019s found his home at the theater. Last year, Radcliffe won his first Tony Award<\/a> for best actor in a featured role in a musical for\u00a0Merrily We Roll Along.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAnother franchise alum, Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the films, is currently reprising his character<\/a> in Broadway\u2019s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Elsewhere in the interview, Radcliffe also responded to Felton, saying Radcliffe was an \u201cinspiration\u201d for him to make his Broadway debut.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTom\u2019s older than me. He was always like the cool kid growing up. It\u2019s crazy that he would think of me as an inspiration for anything, but like yeah, it\u2019s very that\u2019s really sweet,\u201d The Lost City star said. \u201cI would encourage anyone that wants to act and enjoys acting to do stage stuff, and so I\u2019m super excited that he\u2019s in this and that he\u2019s doing Broadway and he\u2019s doing the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for Radcliffe, he returns to the stage in a solo play, Every Brilliant Thing, which begins previews on Feb. 21, 2026, ahead of its opening night on March 12 at the Hudson Theatre.<\/p>\n
