An Auckland college has paid tribute to a “much-loved” teacher, who died in a tragic diving incident. <\/p>\n
Takapuna Grammar School confirmed the death of maths teacher Kevin Hu on its social media page. <\/p>\n
The post said he passed away following a “diving accident”. According to NZ Herald, the accident occurred in Fiji. <\/p>\n
On Facebook, the school said: “Kevin was loved by his students and colleagues, and he made a significant impact on our school during the three years he was here.<\/p>\n
“Students enjoyed being in Mr Hu\u2019s Maths class because he made the subject accessible and fun.” <\/p>\n
It said that this week, students and staff had shared stories about Hu, and “supported one another”.<\/p>\n
“We have received so many lovely messages from parents, students, and members of the wider community, and we truly appreciate them.<\/p>\n
“Our thoughts are with Kevin’s family, friends, and everyone who knew him.<\/p>\n
“Moe mai r\u0101 e hoa \u2013 rest well, dear friend.” <\/p>\n
One parent, who said her son was in Hu’s class, said he made the subject “accessible, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable”. <\/p>\n
“We\u2019re so grateful [my son] had those two years with you \u2014 your impact on him, and so many others, will stay with them.” <\/p>\n
