Image: InSyde Media<\/p>\n<p>The switch has been triggered by Triple Eight\u2019s decision to quit the second-tier series as it focuses on its future with Ford.<\/p>\n<p>Triple Eight rejoined Super2 this year in partnership with Ben\u2019s father Jason Gomersall, who owns the two ZB Holden Commodores raced by Ben, 19, and Jackson Walls, 22.<\/p>\n<p>Walls is already <a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/supercars-news-2025-triple-eight-confirms-jackson-walls-sct-ford-mustang-2026-details\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">confirmed to be moving to Triple Eight\u2019s Supercars Championship squad<\/a> as it expands to three cars, taking on SCT Motorsport as a customer entry.<\/p>\n<p>Gomersall, however, is expected to switch to Tickford, taking the place of current title contender Lochie Dalton in the Ford team\u2019s four-car Super2 line-up.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-974493\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/MH3_2568-Edit.jpg\" alt=\"Triple Eight's Super2 Series drivers Jackson Walls (left) with Ben Gomersall.\" width=\"1799\" height=\"1200\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Triple Eight\u2019s Super2 Series drivers Jackson Walls (left) with Ben Gomersall. Image: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>The move is believed to have prompted<a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/supercars-news-2026-bathurst-1000-co-drivers-lochie-dalton-jarrod-hughes-announcement-details\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Dalton\u2019s surprise co-driving deal with Erebus Motorsport<\/a>, having previously been tipped to graduate into Tickford\u2019s Enduro Cup squad.<\/p>\n<p>Tickford\u2019s domination of the 2025 Super2 Series has triggered serious demand for seats in its Mustangs next season.<\/p>\n<p>The Gomersall-owned Triple Eight Commodores have proven best of the rest and are likely to be on the grid next year too, run by Matt Stone Racing.<\/p>\n<p>MSR, of which Gomersall is a stakeholder, is keen to return to Super2, having stepped back from the class when Gen3 was introduced to the main game in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The fate of a Gomersall-owned<a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/supercars-news-triple-eight-holden-commodore-super2-gen2-ben-gomersall\/#:~:text=Triple%20Eight%20is%20partway%20through,deals%20with%20its%20Mustang%20workload.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> final Gen2 Commodore still in build at Triple Eight<\/a> is unclear.<\/p>\n<p>Triple Eight is meanwhile the second major team to confirm its impending exit from Super2 for 2026 following a similar decision from Walkinshaw Andretti United.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1004159\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Supercars-Sydney500-Super2-021.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1280\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Gomersall\u2019s T8 Holdens are likely to race on with MSR. Image: InSyde Media<\/p>\n<p>The ongoing participation of several other outfits has also been in doubt amid recent uncertainty over when Gen3 cars will be introduced to the category.<\/p>\n<p>Triple Eight says it will return to Super2 when the Gen3 ruleset is introduced \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/supercars-news-super2-series-gen3-cars-ruleset-2028-tim-edwards-explained\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a move that has now been pushed back until 2028.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That will allow Supercars to work through a cost containment process to make the cars more suitable to the budgets of second-tier teams.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/supercars-news-super2-series-gen3-cars-ruleset-2028-tim-edwards-explained\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Supercars delays introduction of Gen3 cars to Super2 Series<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tickford drivers hold the top four places in the 2025 points standings ahead of the final round in Adelaide next weekend, with Rylan Gray leading the charge.<\/p>\n<p>Gomersall is placed ninth on 822 points, just 63 adrift of fifth-placed teammate Walls in the battle for rookie of the year honours.<\/p>\n<p>A 23-car field has been confirmed for the event, with NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Jesse Love the big addition at Image Racing.<\/p>\n<p>Love will drive the Holden previously raced by Max Geoghegan, who has switched to Kelly Racing, while Elliot Cleary returns for Eggleston Motorsport after missing four races due to a wrist injury.<\/p>\n<p>  <a data-bid=\"1\" data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/t.cfjump.com\/92797\/b\/289522\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; vertical-align: middle;\" alt=\"\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/289522.png\"\/><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tickford Racing will again run four Super2 entries in 2026.
