{"id":145573,"date":"2025-11-21T00:26:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T00:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/145573\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T00:26:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T00:26:09","slug":"foxconn-openai-partner-on-ai-hardware-manufacturing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/145573\/","title":{"rendered":"Foxconn, OpenAI partner on AI hardware manufacturing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">(Reuters) -Foxconn will collaborate with U.S.-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/organizations\/openai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:OpenAI;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a> to design and engineer data center racks, components,\u200b and other <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> hardware, the Taiwanese company said on \u200cThursday, as both firms seek to capitalize on booming demand for AI infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">While the initial agreement \u200cdoes not include purchase commitments or financial obligations, OpenAI will have early access to evaluate the systems and an option to buy them, Foxconn said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The tie-up will allow Foxconn, the world&#8217;s largest contract electronics maker, an \u2060insight into the growing compute \u200cneeds of large AI firms and help design products that meet the requirements of advanced large language models.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NVDA\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:Nvidia;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nvidia<\/a> supplier last \u200dweek offered a bullish outlook on AI-related demand, saying it would be a big driver of 2026 growth as Foxconn rides the data center boom and benefits from the \u200bbillions invested by Big Tech firms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The deal expands OpenAI&#8217;s involvement in \u200chardware design, having partnered with Broadcom to develop its own custom chip, as it seeks to take a hands-on approach to creating AI systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has said the startup is committed to spending $1.4 trillion to develop 30 gigawatts of computing resources &#8211; enough to roughly power 25 \u2060million U.S. homes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Foxconn will manufacture the \u200bdata center components, which include cables, \u200bpower systems, and networking equipment at its U.S. facilities, bolstering supply chains and side-stepping any potential tariffs from \u200dthe Trump administration.\u2060<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Separately on Thursday, Foxconn announced a joint venture with Alphabet unit Intrinsic to establish general-purpose robotics and automation across manufacturing facilities to speed-\u2060up production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Initially, the collaboration will cover a range of scenarios across assembly, inspection, \u200cmachine tending and logistics applications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">(Reporting by Zaheer Kachwala \u200cin Bengaluru;
