An Oscar-nominated film with a big British cast is leaving streaming service<\/a> BBC iPlayer very soon.<\/p>\n

2011’s War Horse, directed by none other than Steven Spielberg, is currently on the streaming service<\/a> after recently airing on BBC One.<\/p>\n

However, it will only be available to watch there until Monday, 15 September at 4.30pm, and it’s currently not included with any other subscription service without an extra charge.<\/p>\n

The film follows the live of an Irish Hunter horse as he bonds with a young man before being forced to work for the army during World War I (the first time Spielberg covered WWI after multiple films featuring WWII).<\/p>\n

The cast includes Emily Watson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, David Thewlis, Toby Kebbell, Liam Cunningham, Eddie Marsan, and Jeremy Irvine.<\/p>\n

On Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, the film has 241 critic reviews with a 74% positive score, which is one of his lower as a director<\/a> but still very solid.<\/p>\n

“War Horse is bold, exquisite family filmmaking in the grandest Hollywood tradition,” wrote Empire magazine<\/a>, while The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> stated: “It recalls the way Hollywood used to produce movies for everyone.”<\/p>\n

In a more mixed review, Little White Lies<\/a> called the film “heavy-handed melodrama with flashes of brilliance”, while The San Francisco Chronicle<\/a> dubbed it “as messy as it is inspired”.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, it was announced that Spielberg and Chris Columbus \u2014 who recently worked together on the hit The Thursday Murder Club movie adaptation<\/a> \u2014 will be collaborating again on a sequel to<\/a> The Goonies, 40 years on from the original. <\/p>\n

War Horse is available to stream on BBC iPlayer until next Monday.<\/p>\n
