The 2025 CMA Awards came to pass Wednesday, Nov. 19. Entertainer of the Year nominee Luke Combs kicked off the star-studded ceremony<\/a> at Nashville\u2019s Bridgestone Arena with a red-hot performance of \u201cBack in the Saddle.\u201d He took the stage a second time alongside rapper BigXthaPlug for a rousing duet of their country-rap collab \u201cPray Hard.\u201d And while at first glance, Combs\u2019 red-carpet attire wasn\u2019t quite as flashy as some, the \u201cFast Car\u201d crooner, 35, brought a piece of country music history to the 59th awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

Luke Combs accessorized his brocade suit with a vintage Omega watch that Johnny Cash gave to Elvis Presley in 1969. A gift for the King\u2019s 34th birthday, an engraving on the back reads, \u201cTo E From J Jan. 8 1969.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Australian \u201cwatch writer, horological researcher\u00a0and expert watch spotter,\u201d who goes by the Instagram handle @niccoloy<\/a>, spotted the priceless artifact on Combs\u2019 wrist. The \u201cBeautiful Crazy\u201d singer reportedly purchased it for $103,000 at a recent auction, according to the comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cRock all the Rollies you want boys\u2026.none of them have the story this watch does!\u201d one user declared in the comment section.<\/p>\n

\u201cBiggest flex I\u2019ve seen this year,\u201d another agreed.<\/p>\n

Certainly, Combs has his fair share of Rolexes as well. His notable watch collection has previously been featured<\/a> in GQ magazine. While he walked away winless from Bridgestone Arena after garnering three nominations, the two-time Entertainer of the Year had a pretty stunning piece of hardware to soften the blow.<\/p>\n

Luke Combs Recounts Awkward First Rolex Purchase<\/p>\n

Back in 2018, Luke Combs walked into a New York Rolex store to fulfill a lifelong dream. Releasing his 2017 major-label debut This One\u2019s For You, the North Carolina-born hitmaker made history<\/a> as the first artist to send their first five singles to the top of Billboard\u2019s Country Airplay chart. Wanting to celebrate his success, he decided to splurge on his first-ever Rolex. However, the shop assistant nearly turned him away based on his understated appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI walked into the store and\u2026 I was like\u2026\u2018I\u2019m looking for a Yacht-Master II Stainless Steel\u2019, and they were like, \u2018Well you can\u2019t just\u00a0get\u00a0those.\u2019 I remember they said that, \u2018You can\u2019t just\u00a0get\u00a0those,\u2019\u201d Combs recalled during a November 2024 interview<\/a> with Club Rolex.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, correct me if I\u2019m wrong, but we\u2019re in the store that would f\u2014ing sell them, in my opinion. Where the hell else am I gonna get it?\u2019\u2026Like, they\u2019re not selling them at the grocery store. So, she\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, well you can\u2019t just\u00a0get\u00a0those.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018What do you mean?\u2026It sounds like\u00a0you\u00a0can\u2019t get those.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

So Combs, in his athletic shorts-and-sandals glory, casually quipped, \u201cAw, that\u2019s too bad, because I\u2019m playing Madison Square Garden tonight, so I\u2019m going to wear it on stage.\u2019 \u201cAnd they\u2019re like, \u2018Well, we\u00a0may\u00a0have one laying around\u2026\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
