After the collapse of criminal cases against former FBI chief James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James this week, the Trump administration is now coming after Senator Mark Kelly, but \u201cThe View\u201d host Alyssa Farah Griffin doesn\u2019t expect this new case to really stand up. In fact, the ABC host has a guess as to why Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is really doing it.<\/p>\n

To kick off the day\u2019s Hot Topics, the hosts of \u201cThe View\u201d offered fake sympathy for the Trump administration having a bad day in court yesterday, and celebrated the fact that both cases were thrown out. They then turned their attention to Kelly\u2019s case, which comes in the wake of the senator participating in a video with other Democratic lawmakers, that encouraged military members to refuse following unlawful orders.<\/p>\n

Farah Griffin immediately said she doesn\u2019t \u201cimagine this is going to go very far,\u201d especially considering the language used in the video was very specific. Really, she thinks this case stems from something else entirely.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the timing of Pete Hegseth really cracking down on a distinguished veteran like Mark Kelly comes because he is being sidelined in these Ukraine negotiations,\u201d she explained. \u201cHe\u2019s nowhere to be found in the discussions, in fact, a deputy of his, the Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll, has emerged as kind of a power player in this.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, in Farah Griffin\u2019s opinion, Hegseth is simply trying to get Trump\u2019s attention and affection back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s doing it to try to get in good with Trump, to be like \u2018Look, I\u2019m fighting your fights for you,\u2019 but it\u2019s going to go very similarly to how these Comey and Letitia James cases went,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere, when you do something, and it doesn\u2019t look like there\u2019s merit there, it\u2019s gonna fall apart, the president\u2019s gonna be mad, and you\u2019re gonna be embarrassed,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe View\u201d airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.<\/p>\n
