\n\tSome media M&A teams may be working through the Thanksgiving weekend: Warner Bros. Discovery<\/a> \u2014 which is fielding acquisition overtures from Paramount Skydance<\/a>, Comcast<\/a> and Netflix<\/a> \u2014 is asking for second-round bids by Monday, Dec. 1, that are higher than the original proposals, Variety has confirmed.<\/p>\n

\n\tNews of Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s deadline for the second round of bidding was first reported by Bloomberg News. Following the submission of the new bids, the company \u201cmay enter a period of exclusive negotiations with one of the companies,\u201d per Bloomberg\u2019s report<\/a>. The first-round offers for WBD were submitted last Thursday, Nov. 20,<\/a> from Paramount Skydance, Comcast and Netflix. <\/p>\n

\n\tReps for Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Skydance declined to comment. Comcast and Netflix did not immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast month, Warner Bros. Discovery announced that it had received in-bound M&A interest from \u201cmultiple parties\u201d and kicked off a process to review offers. The company said it will consider proposals in which the Warner Bros. business (HBO Max and studios) is sold separately from Discovery Global, the TV-centric company, which aligns with Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s already-underway plan to split into two companies by April 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix and Comcast have been eyeing a deal to acquire the Warner Bros. streaming and studio operations, separate from WBD\u2019s cable TV business.<\/p>\n

\n\tParamount Skydance is interested in acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery in its entirety. Paramount chief David Ellison previously submitted bids for WBD but the Warner Bros. Discovery board rejected his $23.50\/share offer of 80% cash and 20% stock. Paramount Skydance\u2019s first-round bid last week, fully backed by the Ellison family (i.e., Oracle founder Larry Ellison) along with RedBird Capital Partners, was expected to be roughly in line with Ellison\u2019s previous $23.50\/share offer, the Wall Street Journal previously reported. Details on the offer terms and prices of the Warner Bros. Discovery bidders could not be confirmed.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs part of its offer to buy Warner Bros., Netflix execs told WBD that the streamer would honor the latter\u2019s theatrical distribution deals\u00a0to keep Warner Bros. films in cinemas<\/a>\u00a0if its bid is successful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Some media M&A teams may be working through the Thanksgiving weekend: Warner Bros.
