The therapeutic benefits of sound and music are evident is the histories of ancient cultures including Egypt, Greece, and Indigenous Peoples. Now, our North American society is beginning to recognize and embrace sound’s healing powers, and once again the practice is starting to gain momentum.

Jeanne LePage is a Therapeutic Sound Practitioner and owner of The Healing Path, a unique, new business located at 344 Queen Street East. Presently, there are only eighty-six Certified Therapeutic Sound Practitioners with the ISTA (International Sound Therapists Association) in North America, and when Jeanne receives her final certification in the new year, she will become the fourth in Canada.

“My path into holistic wellness began a few years ago when I first experienced the calming, transformative effects of meditation and sound healing,” says Jeanne. “That moment opened a door for me, inspiring me to dive deeper and train as a Therapeutic Sound Practitioner so I could share these benefits with others on their own wellness journeys.” Launching The Healing Path allows Jeanne to share her unique expertise while introducing this gentle wellness practice to the community she loves.

Dive into the Sound Spa

At the core of The Healing Path is The Sound Spa – a place where clients will benefit from a range of practices that use calming tones, rhythms, and vibrations to help them find deep relaxation and support their wellness journey. “Music and sound are used with intention to vibrate the cells of the body,” Jeanne explains. “It is believed that music stimulates the pituitary gland, whose secretions affect the nervous system and the flow of blood. “While it isn’t a medical cure, sound therapy beautifully supports the body’s natural ability to restore, rebalance, and heal in its own meaningful ways while creating the ideal conditions for deep relaxation – something many of us rarely give ourselves time to experience.”

Sound Spa services help the nervous system settle and bring the body into a calmer, more balanced state. “Tension and anxiety are released because sound encourages a parasympathetic ‘rest-and-restore’ response,” says Jeanne. “Many people find that it improves mood and mental clarity, enhances sleep quality, and promotes physical and emotional healing. They leave sessions feeling grounded, refreshed, and more at ease. Benefits are felt after one session, and with repeat sessions, the effects last longer and longer.”

Clients at The Healing Path can enjoy three Sound Spa services:

Sound Massage: Unlike traditional ‘hands-on’ massage, clients remain fully clothed as they rest on a massage table to receive a deeply soothing “massage” without physical touch. The practitioner places specially designed therapeutic metal singing bowls on or near key energy centres of the body. Then, a gentle tapping of the bowls with a soft mallet releases calming tones and warm, resonant vibrations that travel through the body to melt away tension, ease anxiety, and invite a state of deep relaxation.
Liquid Sound Table: On a vibroacoustic table, the client settles into a warm, water-filled mattress while soothing music gently flows through the base of the table and into their body. The combination of sound and subtle vibration creates a deeply calming experience, helping their entire system unwind and drift into a state of relaxation and well-being.
Sound Clouds: The Healing Path is proud to offer Canada’s only Sound Cloud experience. Here, clients sink into large, round air cloud cushions with a gentle vibroacoustic center that moves in harmony with peaceful music. Sound softly reverberates through the core, and the entire body begins to unwind, inviting a deep sense of calm and relaxation. In the new year, the studio will introduce a Sound Bath experience utilizing the air cloud cushions.

In addition to the Sound Studio, The Healing Path features a metaphysical shop with books, journals, crystals, incense, smudging supplies and more, all with a focus on healing, wellness, spirituality, and divination.

And, a variety of yoga classes will provide instruction, with no minimum class size limit. “As long as there is one participant, yoga classes will run,” says Jeanne. “This will give participants an opportunity for even greater one-on-one guidance from the yoga instructor.” The Healing Path is currently hiring additional certified yoga instructors.
