The Safety Car was drawn at the end of a wild minute-and-a-half, which began with a collision on the run down to the Senna Chicane.<\/p>\n
Trans Am regular Nathan Herne was turned into the inside wall after Moffat\u2019s car appeared to get pinched by Herne and Jordan Cox.<\/p>\n
Moffat was left with nowhere to go and piled into Herne, suffering significant damage to the front of his Mustang. Jack Smith was also caught up in the carnage.<\/p>\n
Despite the damage, Moffat pushed on at the back of the field, and entering Turn 8, his car went straight ahead and into the outside wall at high speed.<\/p>\n
So violent was the hit that it sent the concrete barrier back several feet.<\/p>\n
Herne returned to the pit lane at the end of the first lap where he retired his car, followed by Smith.<\/p>\n
\u201cI blame Moff,\u201d said Cox, post-race.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were locking wheels all the way down the straight. My front bar was ahead of Moff and he pushed me onto the grass.\u201d<\/p>\n
Herne offered his account of the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe GRM guys were into it. Cox pushed Moffat into me and turned me around,\u201d Herne said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he [Moffat] had of backed out of it instead of driving me into the wall, we could have been able to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Repairs to the wall meant the race was scratched after just four laps were completed.<\/p>\n
Blake Tracey got the holeshot after short-cutting the chicane, launching his car skyward in the process.<\/p>\n
Todd Hazelwood retook the lead with a pass at the Turn 9 hairpin that got Tracey out of shape and left him vulnerable to an attack.<\/p>\n
Lachlanne Evennett seized on Tracey\u2019s slow exit and passed him for second before Elliott Barbour got by Tracey too.<\/p>\n

James Moffat hit the Turn 8 wall during Race 2 of the Trico Trans Am Series at Adelaide.<\/p>\n
Then the Safety Car was drawn and the race neutralised. A new concrete block was needed after Moffat\u2019s hit with the Turn 8 wall, ultimately ending the race under red flag conditions.<\/p>\n
Race 3 of the Trans Am Series is scheduled for 12pm ACDT on Sunday. Garry Rogers Motorsport expects to have Moffat\u2019s car repaired for the weekend\u2019s conclusion.<\/p>\n
