Ortega believes\u00a0such worries have the ability to push artists to make their voices louder and their creativity\u00a0bolder:\u00a0<\/p>\n“[We] were talking about this a little bit yesterday,\u00a0as a group. […] About how, in these difficult times and\u00a0confusing times, oftentimes it pushes the artist to speak out more, to do more. For there to be this new awakening and passion and protection, and I want to assume, and hope, that that is\u00a0the case. But there’s certain things that AI just isn’t able to replicate. And yes, there’s ‘beautiful’\u00a0in difficulty, and there’s ‘beautiful’\u00a0in mistakes, and a computer can’t do that. A computer has no soul, and it’s nothing that we’ll ever be able to resonate with, or relate to.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Wednesday\u00a0star appears\u00a0to envision a long-term shift in the industry, going from people becoming so used to AI content, that they eventually begin to crave human creativity:\u00a0<\/p>\n
“I don’t want to assume\u00a0for the audience, but I would hope it gets\u00a0to a point where it becomes sort of mental junk food\u2014AI\u2014and looking at the screen, suddenly we all feel sick, and we don’t know why.\u00a0And then, that one independent filmmaker in their\u00a0backyard maybe comes out with something, and it releases this new excitement again.”<\/p>\n
The actress then concluded with: “I think, sometimes\u2014as terrible as it is to say\u2014sometimes audiences\u00a0need to be deprived of something in order to appreciate something again.”<\/p>\n
Ortega posits an outlook that merits considering given its plausibility.\u00a0She knows the technology is here to stay. She also shines a light on the very real possibility that artists will be forced to evolve in order for their work to stand out, thus propelling them to reach new creative heights.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It’s a challenging scenario,\u00a0one that still puts artists\u2014who struggled to make a living in their chosen fields even before artificial intelligence\u2014in an all-too-familiar position of survival. Still, despite that being a potential outcome, as Ortega stated, human creativity is unlikely to be left behind. It’s possible\u00a0that, once the dust settles on AI as the hot new technology, people will crave a human touch in the arts.<\/p>\n
While artifical intelligence will, surely, continue\u00a0to evolve, perhaps things will get to a point where audiences\u00a0feel somewhat disconnected from the machine-made entertainment they’re consuming, whether it’s on social media (where AI-produced videos are a hot commodity) or movies and TV. Assuming that’s where things are going, said\u00a0disconnect can become the spark that encourages people\u00a0to once again seek human-made content to consume.\u00a0<\/p>\n
