Late-night hosts tore into Donald Trump<\/a> for his use of an ableist slur<\/a> and unconvincing attempts<\/a> to assuage concerns about his cognitive abilities.<\/p>\n

Jon Stewart<\/p>\n

As the Thanksgiving spirit gave way to the work week, Jon Stewart<\/a> tore into the president for using an ableist slur to describe the Minnesota governor, Tim Walz<\/a>. In a Truth Social post over the weekend, Trump called Walz, who ran against him last year as Kamala Harris\u2019s running mate, \u201cseriously retarded\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Thanksgiving?! Are you confusing that with Festivus?\u201d the Daily Show host exclaimed on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Days later, asked by reporters if he regretted his remarks, Trump doubled down, saying that there was \u201csomething seriously wrong\u201d with the Democratic governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething wrong with him? With him?\u201d Stewart fumed. \u201cYou were sitting with your family at Thanksgiving, belly full of turkey and pie, surrounded by the love of your extended crime family, but your initial instinct was to Truth a slur at Tim Walz<\/a>? And there\u2019s something wrong with him?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe press corps had to spend the whole holiday weekend down at Mar-a-Lago, listening to this brain ooze, and then, they couldn\u2019t even go back home by themselves,\u201d he added. \u201cThey had to fly back with this nut and ask him if he wants to clarify any of the nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact, Trump attempted to assuage recurring concerns<\/a> about his health and cognitive abilities, including a recently revealed MRI scan in October, by claiming that he had \u201cno idea\u201d what part of the body was even scanned.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just an MRI,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat part of the body? It wasn\u2019t the brain because I took a cognitive test, and I aced it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not physically possible,\u201d Stewart responded. \u201cTo have no idea, it\u2019s not possible. What would you say to the doctor? \u2018No no no, don\u2019t tell me. I want to find out at my MRI reveal party.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cFor God\u2019s sakes, man, were you not curious at all?\u201d he continued. \u201cWhen they laid you down in a tube for a half an hour to 45 minutes, you didn\u2019t want to know what they might be doing? Or did you just think to yourself, \u2018What a loud tanning bed\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart also mocked Trump\u2019s claim that he got a \u201cperfect score\u201d on his MRI.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how they score the MRIs,\u201d Stewart joked. \u201cYou either get a big stamp, \u2018Perfect,\u2019 or you get in red ink, \u2018See me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert<\/p>\n

\u201cMaga folks are starting to notice that Trump treats them like meat animals,\u201d said Stephen Colbert<\/a> on Monday\u2019s Late Show, citing a Daily Beast interview with former supporters angry with the president for building a gilded ballroom instead of tackling affordability. \u201cI\u2019ll have you know that the entire purpose of that ballroom is to serve the poor \u2014 and they will be delicious,\u201d Colbert quipped.<\/p>\n

In other news, \u201cTrump celebrated Thanksgiving in his traditional way \u2013 with racism,\u201d Colbert quipped, referring to Trump\u2019s anti-immigrant rant<\/a> on Truth Social from the weekend. \u201cSomewhere in all of that nonsense\u201d, he attacked Minnesota\u2019s immigration policies and used an ableist slur to describe Walz.<\/p>\n

Walz responded<\/a>: \u201cRelease the MRI results.\u201d Trump then said he would release the results, though he didn\u2019t know what part of the body was scanned.<\/p>\n

\u201cUh, here\u2019s a theory: maybe the part that\u2019s broken is the part that\u2019s supposed to know,\u201d Colbert noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs per usual, after the president said something, the White House scrambled to justify it,\u201d he continued. And on Monday afternoon, Trump\u2019s staff posted a letter from Trump\u2019s doctor claiming that the MRI was given \u201cbecause men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, fair enough,\u201d said Colbert. \u201cMen in his age group also benefit from retiring, so \u2026 can we write that prescription next?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> also blasted Trump for using an ableist slur. \u201cSee, he can be presidential when he wants to be!\u201d he joked. \u201cI wonder why he didn\u2019t get that Nobel peace prize. It makes no sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Trump\u2019s follow-up on Air Force One \u2013 emphasizing of Walz that \u201cI think there\u2019s something wrong with him\u201d \u2013 Kimmel was blunt: \u201canother bold statement from the president of the eighth grade\u201d.<\/p>\n

Trump also continued to claim that his approval ratings had never been higher, \u201cwhich means it\u2019s not just books he can\u2019t read\u201d, said Kimmel. With a negative rating of 60%<\/a>, \u201cthere are gas station bathrooms on Yelp with higher approval ratings than Donald Trump right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel then touched on Trump\u2019s promise to pardon<\/a> Juan Orlando Hern\u00e1ndez, the former president of Honduras who was sentenced last year to 45 years in prison for allegedly creating<\/a> \u201ca cocaine superhighway to the United States\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow some have pointed out the unbelievable hypocrisy of Trump, blowing up boats and killing random Venezuelans because he believes there are low-level drug runners in the boats, while simultaneously pardoning a man who sent a million pounds of cocaine to this country,\u201d said Kimmel. \u201cBut those people are just haters and losers, you know? Lighten up!<\/p>\n
